  • RE: My dog bit me. Should I be concerned?

The dosage for Benadryl is 1-2mg per lb of body weight (2-4 times a day). The 1mg dose is for mild allergies and the 2mg dose is for more severe allergies. For life threatening emergencies, vets will sometimes use 3mg/lb, but don't do that without vet authorization. For a 78 lb dog, your 50mg dosage...

  • RE: Greenish snot and sneezing

One way to test for allergy problems is simply to try an antihistamine. If it helps, you know you have an allergy problem. Unfortunately, if it doesn't work, that tells you that either there are no allergy problems or your particular antihistamine doesn't work for this dog. Benadryl - Dosage...

  • Re: wyatt scared the crap outta me!

I'm glad that Wyatt is doing better! I suggest that you keep both both Benadryl tablets and liquid (with syringe) on hand - along with written dosage info. The liquid acts faster and is easier to swallow. Tablets don't have a sweetner and just aren't as messy when the dog isn't cooperating...

  • Re: Need Help! Swollen eye and muzzle!

This could be a bee sting, a spider bite, a snake bite, etc. Your doggie first aid kit should contain Benadryl for situations like this. The dosage is 1-2mg/lb of body weight 2-4 times/day. Yes, that sounds like a lot, but dogs metabolize it much faster than humans. Tablets or liquid are OK, but do not...
