Re: This is getting absurd... (Chelsea)

I would NEVER cut out omega fatty acids. For the most part they are high in UNSATURATED fats , GOOD fats , not the kind that add to weight gain. However.... EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL actually encourages weight loss. You might consider substituting that for one meal a day. http://www.organicfacts.net/organic-oils/organic-coconut-oil/health-benefits-of-coconut-oil.html Another thing to consider is that your dog might need more PROBIOTICS. If there's a digestion problem and the dog is not able to

Re: Dog food measurements.

Wow... FOUR cups a day ? How much does this dog weigh ? My 70 lb very active lab gets 3C of TOTW a day w/a tablespoon of canned or 1 Nature's Variety raw medallion. My 80 lb GSP who is inactive gets 2C of TOTW w/the same mix ins and on a better quality, higher calorie food they get even LESS. 4 cups seems like an awful lot of food unless your dog is in the 80-100 lb range considering that you should always feed about 25% LESS than the amount recommended by the manufacturer for the dog's ideal

Re: Highest Quality Kibble?

Those are the exact foods I feed. I think they're much better than BB. Haven't tried the Canidae GF yet. Hey... if anyone is interested in trying Nature's Variety Instinct... here's a coupon for a free bag: http://hosted.verticalresponse.com/308297/e9cf8845aa/732/1c7caa5b66/

Re: Feeding a malnourished dog (Sowilu)

Here is information that is SPECIFIC about feeding and caring for malnourished animals . People forget that feeding is only a small part of the actual care it takes and that the animal is most likely suffering from much more than just malnutrition. http://www.thepetcenter.com/imtop/recovery.html

Re: Opinions on Timberwolf Organics?

That's because the product is going out of date. They NEVER have sales on fresh product. It's always about to go OOD and sometimes already IS OOD. I learned that a LONG time ago.

Re: Opinions on Timberwolf Organics?

Actually they never guaranteed their food. They've switched formulas a number of times since they started out and now the formulas are grain heavy and include grains that were never there before. They've also put meat meals further down the ingredient list. I used to sell TW and still have the original ingredient lists. The company is less than reputable, even on the "shady" side and the people that work there ( or did work there) were flakes and the customer service was either

Re: Who uses Evangers?

I still use it. My dogs love it. ONE time I got a few batches where the food had a distinct burned tin smell to them but that's about it. Have never had any problems with it .. so far. I love their 100% meats and the prices are pretty good compared to EVO or WELLNESS.

Re: Guar gum & carrageenan...do you guys

" Both are perfectly safe and healthy" WRONG. Don't know where you got that misinformation. http://www.sussexmall.com/carrageenan.htm "A recent publication[14] indicates that carrageenan induces inflammation in human intestinal epithelial cells in tissue culture through a Bcl10-mediated pathway that leads to activation of NFkappaB and IL-8. Carrageenan may be immunogenic due to its unusual alpha-1,3-galactosidic link that is part of its disaccharide unit structure. Consumption

As soon as I can order or get this food in my area it's going right into my rotation...

http://www.horizonpetfood.com/Products/dog_legacy.html\ I'm hoping our Pet Supplies Plus will get it in. I see that others in the central part of the country are carrying it. The ingredient list can't get much better than this. But... it's the companie's ethics and mission statement I like the best. Plus the fact that they source their own ingredients locally and manufacture their own food.

Re: Weruva?

Yep...heard of it last year. Passed it up because of the MENADIONE. I'd try TikiCat instead and it happens to be on sale at Petfooddirect.com and alphanutrition.com
