Re: Itchy skin...help!

He probably doesn't have fleas then! I would switch to a minimum ingredient food--like Wellness Simple Solutions or the like. He could have food AND environmental allergies like my dog, but she almost never itches from her environmental allergies because I have her on food that she does well on, so her allergies are kept below her threshold.

Re: How is it that I am more allergic to my poodle than my high shedding terrier? Are poodles really that great for allergy sufferers?

People CAN be allergic to dog hair. Hair is made of protein...and allergies are reactions to specific proteins. We used to have a beagle that we bathed twice a week because my brother is allergic...but that didn't help at all because he's allergic to the hair. Now we have a bichon, and she doesn't cause him to react at all.

Just bathe your poodle more often so pollen doesn't build up on his coat. Giving him a wipe-down after playing outside will help too.

Well they can be hypoallergenic to people who are allergic to dog hair (like my brother). But if you are allergic to pollen, then yeah a poodle isn't going to help you.

Re: I got my bunny!

Does she have a solid surface to stand on? Those wire-bottomed cages, while good for cleanliness, are horrible for little rabbit feet. They can get permanent sores on the bottom of their feet. I also find it odd that FFA is requiring you to breed pet rabbits---i'm sorry but that's a terribly bad idea! I used to have a gray Holland Lop named JoJo--he was such a cutie...but a real handful! I built him a ginormous 3 story cage with an attached exercise pen, and he still had tons of energy. He

Do you feed your dog before or after yourself?

The other day we had company over for dinner, and just before we ate I gave Jetta her dinner. One guest said: "Oh you feed your dog first? Thats bad because she'll think she's in control over you!". I think that is completely bogus! I have always fed Jetta before myself because I don't think its fair to eat in front of a hungry dog--that just encourages begging IMO. Also, I am her caretaker and "momma", so I always want to provide for her first just like a person would

Re: Do you feed your dog before or after yourself?

I'm glad you all agree with me! I can't stand it when people come into my house and tell me i'm raising my dog wrong---especially since the person who made this comment has a very aggressive, tempermental doberman who they have to keep a muzzle on permenantly b/c she is so ill-behaved. They act very dominantly towards the poor dobe , and I don't like it at all...
