Re: AIHA or IMHA

I have not been here in a good while and I am sorry to find so many new dogs in this section. I found this forum about this time 6 years ago after losing my 4 year old glden retriever, Hunter, to AIHA. I had never heard of this horrible disease until he was diagnosed with it. He was diagnosed on Thursday Oct. 9, 2003 put in ICU and remained their til his death on Oct. 16. We know his was brought on by ProHeart6, the 6 ont6h heartworm preventative injection. He was young and healthy and 6 eeks after

How scarey this had to be for you. and when she really gets to feeling gret she will probasbly want to exercise a little harder than she should and have to be watched. I have not been around here for a few months--so much vision problem.s Can't read paper, books, etc any more, had to give up driivntg as I I can't see well enough to tell if the car in front puts on brakes, can't tell if traffic lights is red or green til I am right on it. Have to use magnifying glass to even read screen

Honey's Leg

About 3 months ago Honey had mast cell tumor removed from left rear leg. Just before stitches were due to come out, she burst the center open, ends were healed--and left a nasty hole in her leg. Rickey said it would not heal if he stitched it up, so for over 2 weeks I had to take her out and use spray nozzle on hose and "irrigate" out that hole 2-3 times a day. It did heal beautiful with only a very small round scar with no fur. If this woks, it is pictures of her the day after surgery

Re: An Open Letter to Veterinarians, By a Veterinarian

When my Hunterwas diagnosed withAIHA and spent 8 days in ICU--getting blood work done every day, usually twice a day as hisd HCT was so low, getting tons of meds including antibiotics, hving 2 transfusions, ultrasound, x-rays, and then of coure at theend of the 8th day he died and a necropsy charge (not for my et's work, but for the lab where he sent thetissuessamples) he bill was $2300. It would have been a LOT more I know in big city clinci Bless my darling vet he just kept telling me over
