Cherokee stuff...

So the good news out of the last week or two is her pain has been very manageable. She really hasn't been showing any signs of pain, and of course I've been keeping her on the pain meds around the clock. Bad news (and yeah, it's pretty bad) is she can't really stand or walk anymore. The only thing I can figure is the mass on her shoulder is pressing into her spine, because her back right leg (the tumor is on her left shoulder) is pretty much totally lame. I know she can still FEEL

Re: Unique girls' names (janobonano)
#2 is Liam, and even now almost 33 years later we still rarely hear it.
I LOVE that name. I desperately tried to get my sister to name her kid that.. She wanted to name *him* Eden (but spelled Eadon or something??). Then she decided Aidan would be okay...then she found out how common it is, so somehow he ended up Zachary instead (his middle name is Aidan though). I still think he'd make an awesome Liam. My two week old niece is Lucy, which even though

Re: How is your relationship with your Mother?
I thought I wanted to be closer to family... I can now see the same town, same state, too close!
Haha, this is so true. I love my family, and I miss them immensely when we don't live near each other.. but it's definitely that "absense makes the heart grow fonder" dealio. I'm 21 and have always lived with my Mom, and we actually get along reeeaaally well considering. I'm sort of inclined to think we'd get along even better

Re: It's Monday - where's the moanin'?
I want Agnes to be comfortable, too. I know when I've had bronchitis in the past that coughing up a lung makes the body ache
I don't know Agnes' whole story, so maybe there's some obvious reason she's not on this, but I have to tell you that hydrocodone is AWESOME for coughing. Cherokee's on hydromet, which is hydrocodone and something else in a cough syrup, and seriously it's like a miracle liquid. She HATES it, but I give it

Re: Has anyone used Gabapentin? (Chelsea)

So it seems like it was just a bad night or two. She's been doing pretty good the past few days. Not sure if the gabapentin helps, but I'm giving it anyway.. Oh, and for the record..Cherokee doesn't have bone cancer, so it's not that same type of pain as I understand it. She's got a soft tissue sarcoma near (or possibly at this point attached to) her shoulder blade. Just wanted to clarify that, because I know that bone cancer is some pretty severe pain, and Cherokee's doesn't

Has anyone used Gabapentin? (Chelsea)

Hey guys. Quick update, then we'll get to that question... Kovu's doing fine. His breathing is pretty much back to normal, and he's eating & drinking normally. Cherokee's pain has been getting steadily worse. Last night she couldn't stand up on her own, and at about 4 o'clock this morning I woke up to her screaming in pain. She was clearly just in a painful position but she couldn't get herself out of it. That was really hard..at that point I really thought I'd

Re: Really Kovu, really? You have to be this sick right now? (Chelsea)

Sorry I haven't been around the past couple days. Kovu currently sounds sort of like Darth Vader, but he seems to be feeling fine. He's eating (not *quite* normally, but getting there), not puking.. and he's not hiding or running from me, which he ALWAYS does if he's not feeling good... Cherokee's doing okay. She's been more herself this evening than she has been the past couple days, which is awesome, because I was worried she was losing the will to care about anything (yesterday
your furbabies are very lucky to have you to care for them;
Nah...they might be lucky if I could afford them. I don't even know what business I think I have having these animals. I maxed out my credit cards paying for my Mom and sister's vet bills, and now I have no way to pay for my own. Great plan there Chels... I'm gonna check Care Credit, but I doubt even they'll approve me. My credit is shot until I pay down my debt. I do have some

Really Kovu, really? You have to be this sick right now? (Chelsea)

So I know I haven't given a Cherokee update in a while...but that's because there's not much to update. She's still alive and limpin'. I don't know if that's selfish yet or not. She's on Rimadyl every 12 hours, and Tramadol (pretty close to the max dose) every 8 hours (sometimes I even do every 6 hours). Clockwork, both of them. But she's still in visible pain a lot of the time. Not like HORRIBLE pain, but visible for Cherokee is a biggy. She always limps, but
