I'd really love my next dog to be a Belgian Groenendael, so that's definitely #1 on my list. I'd also like a pug and another sheltie, a rough collie, and a silken windhould or a whippet.

I've been thinking about what I want in my next dog lately...I love the herders, but I think I'd like a change. I'm looking for a medium to small breed, 40 lb max, but smaller would be better, that's less intense and less maintenance than what I have now. I want a dog I can take places with me, specifically to DD's soccer games and practices and DH's theater performances and rehersals (dogs are allowed) without reactivity, barking, or the dog getting bored. DH currently works

Thanks for the recs....I'll have to look more into Beagles, I have always been afraid of the hound temperament, but they do seem like a good fit. Papillons have always been on my list, I was a little concerned that they would get bored at two hour events like my current ones do...I rotate bringing them to soccer games and practices and they are always excited to go, but pace relentlessly once we get there and I usually end up having to walk them around. My concern with Whippets is prey drive

That's a good point about the fence...my border collie could jump it if he wanted to, but he never has. They spend very little time out there unsupervised. The particular breeder website I looked at says they won't sell to anyone without a 6 ft privacy fence, that's why I wondered, but I'm sure there are other options. I like spaniels but I got a bit turned off to them because I've had one before who was a big whiner and a submissive/excitement pee-er.

I had some problems like this when my ex and I first got divorced...they were staying overnight with him on Wed and Sun and he was getting them off to school the next day...when I would get them from school hair would not be brushed, some of the outfits would be the same, and it was obvious they had not been bathed. I think he just had no clue what he was doing, I had always done all the parenting stuff and he had never ever gotten them ready for school...he was getting them up and saying, "ok

Glenmar, I've been following what's going on with your neice in the other thread...that's just so awful, I'm thinking about her and her kids. I have to work tonight...and I'm kind of looking forward to it. Everyone in my house has been sick, DH was first, then me, now the kids, so all the needy people at work will be like a break from all the needy people at home. On the upside, I have health insurance as of yesterday. My work dropped the hourly requirement down from 35/week to

How old is she exactly? My son was a late talker, on his second birthday he wasn't saying anything beyond the standard mama, dada, byebye....I wish I could remember exactly when it all came together for him. He was at least 2 1/2 if not closer to 3. Once he started talking though his speech was very good, very clear, just like a little man. My daughter on the other hand was talking much sooner but now she sees a speech therapist (provided by the school) because at age 8 you can't understand
