  • The new kennel

Today I'm going to lay out the new kennel if it kills me.  I need to figure out how many more poles I need.  Plus I have to figure out how many rolls of chain link I need.  And if I have to bury it, or if covering it would be easier.  I think putting a roof on the the structure may be my best option.  That way I can bury a foot of the chain link and the dogs still won't be able to get over.  Any other ideas? The kennel will be approximately 430 square feet.  So a slab of concrete is definitely not in the budget. I plan on putting a doggy door in my side door to give them access to the kennel if I'm not home or if I'm busy doing something else.  I'm not sure about the neighbors dog though.  If it turns out that she likes to bark at my dogs all day long, I may not leave them out when I'm not home.  I can keep them from barking when I'm there, but when I'm not I don't want them driving the other neighbors nuts.  I'm hoping Lady will ignore them.  They are good at ignoring other dogs when the other dogs are quiet, but not barkers.

Once Kali wakes up, I'll be heading out.  hehe, she fell asleep in her Pooh chair watching TV and rolled out of it so I put her to bed... Poor baby.

  • I miss my dogs.

Moving sucks.  I've been in Dryden for over 2 weeks now working on the new place.  Crusher and Onyx are in Thunder Bay with Tyler still.  I'm staying at my parents house while doing the reno and my mom has a strict no dogs policy.  Sigh.

I'm hoping to get the trailer done by the 20th, but who knows.  Nothing even seems to go smoothly with renovations.  If I can get the place livable I will be happy.  That means painting, floors, skirting, and the dog kennel and yard fence.

I had been working so hard with Onyx on her people issues.  I just know we'll have digressed tons though by the time I get her here.  Tyler won't work with her.  Which is probably better anyway cause he'd just set her back.

Also before I left I had Crusher trained on the Remote Collar but then he got his hotspot from his flat collar and I had to stop using the RC.  He's all better now, but I have left Tyler explicit instructions NOT to use the Remote collar.  I really really really hope he listens.  Actually I think I told him not to use it until he read up on it for about 35 hours and took a class on dog training...

Kali is going through doggy withdrawal too.  Last night she was watching out the front window as some kids went by on rollerblades with a little chocolate lab puppy.  She bounced up and down on the couch and squealed with delight until they were out of sight, then she cried.  I took her across the street to see Midas, the boxer.  He's a great dog, but I think too calm for Kali.  She wanted him to play for her.  Midas gets a birthday party every year.  Last year he had 60 guests, and this year is his champagne birthday...Surprise
