We got the Outback specifically to accomodate the dogs and to meet my personal requirements - LOL.  As Morrison grew the back seat of the Honda Accord was just getting a little squishy for them both and there was only room for two people.

We also factored in that we plan on needing a car seat soon too...crossing fingers...

I looked at Subaru Foresters and Toyota RAV4s (slightly used).  Was thrilled when I found my 2003 RAV 4 (purchased summer 2006) with very low miles and a 5 speed manual transmission.  I have actually removed the back seats for now (they pop in and out easily) and it is a full on doggy mobile with dog beds and hardware to attach their seat belt harnesses into!

Kitty boy Iggy, forever in our hearts...

I already owned my SUV before we got out but now it is time to buy another and I can't buy anything but an SUV, he won't fit into anything else. So "yes" I will be buying a car for my dogs.

Me too.  I bought my first SUV (Chevrolet Blazer) back in 1989 with carting pets primarily in mind.  I'm now on my 3rd (Chevy Trailblazer).  I sometimes think about getting a smaller, more gas economical car...but with big (sweet) lugs, its merely a thought and goes away quickly.  My vehicle is the dogmobile...and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Yes, I have bought my vehicles for my dogs for the last 20 years.  My husband always buys a pickup so he doesn't have to take more than one dog at a time.LOL  Right now I drive a Ford Expedition and took the third seat out.  I have two large wire crates in the back and one small wire crate on the back seat for my JRT.  No, we don't get good gas mileage but it is paid for!! LOL

Not exactly, I chose my car for my praying mantises... yes bugs.  Feel free to use me as a worse example of animal obsession next time anyone tries to give, one of you guys, flack about about picking a car out for your dog.  Thankfully, Kirby also loves the car though because it has bench leather seat in the front so he can sit seatbelted in the middle even if two people are sitting up front.

Technically my car was something I got after my Grandma passed so I didn't buy it, but I did choose to use it over going for something smaller and hipper looking because it is a large Lincoln Towncar that glides like butter.  My mantises hardly vibrate when traveling verses the usual earthquake experience the poor guys will experience in a bumpier car.  You don't realize how bumpy a car ride is till you have a tiny animal traveling with you and see it vibrating along with its cage every time your car moves. >__>
