    Rats. Frontline vs FrontlinePlus

I always use FrontlinePlus (only skip a few months in the winter), but I just opened the last 6month supply that I bought and realized it's the regular stuff.

I'm wondering, if I order another 6 month supply and alternate Regular and Plus every other month...  is there anything that says that isn't just as good?

I use the regular TopSpot every month and have never had an issue.  The Plus just contains a chemical to kill eggs and larvae where the regular TopSpot will just kill adults.  If you have an active infestion I would go with Plus, but to prevent that from occuring I would think TopSpot would be fine.

I think only the Plus does tick protection in addition to flea protection and frontline just does fleas.

Nope, Topspot does ticks, too - the dead ticks I find falling off my dogs will attest to that.

I was only referring to the original question - frontline vs frontline plus.  I don't know much about topspot.  What's the active ingredient?  I use frontline plus myself, but based on some toxicology studies my grad student friends are doing, I was going to switch to Advantix.

TopSpot is what I've been referring to as "regular" frontline.

Does TopSpot prevent you from getting an "infestation"?  Fleas wander by all the time.  I'd rather not cross the line between here-a-flea-there-a-flea and OMG-fumigate-the-place.  So I use Plus because I figured it was the way to prevent the bigger problem.   I'm still not sure if alternating them is effective.

What are the studies?  I know several people who switched to Advantage because Frontline stopped working for them, but I had heard there were issues with Advantix being a little too toxic.

    Re: Rats. Frontline vs FrontlinePlus

My dogs occasionally pick up a flea or two when i bring them to work and (knock wood) no sign of an infestation here, still "here a flea there a flea" when they've been at work (an animal shelter) recently.

(and yes, TopSpot *is* regular Frontline, just plain fipronil)
