Sad [:(] hazards of photography (hey ottoluv)

I stepped on a nail in a fenceboard I didn't even see...*sigh* It was old and rusty...bleah. Hurts like a youknowwhat too! I let it bleed a bit..then rinsed in water, then Peroxide...then Betadine...I probably still will get Tetnus won't I?

Off to look up symptoms....*ay ay ay*

If you haven't had one in awhile, I would go get a tetnus shot.  If no one can take you now, you might check with Carenow this evening since they are open later...or even the hospital if needed.  That really sucks!  I can't remember but I want to say it is like every 10 years you get one or something.

Back in college I had a "rusty nail" incident, too.  When I went to Student Health, they told me that while you should get a tetanus booster every 10 years, if you are potentially exposed, you should have had a shot in the last 5-6 years, sooooo I got another shot.  Might have changed since then, or the doctor could have been a Dr. Mengele wannabe. Wink

It's definitely worth inquiring about if you need a booster.  Be prepared to have a very sore arm the day after the shot.

Every 10 years for a tetanus shot UNLESS something like this happens.  Off to the clnic you go.

Reminded me of a very bad incident I had a few years back...won't thieve your thread only to say that I stepped on a needle while barefoot...it went all the way up into the foot and had to go have it cut out.  Was not fun at all.

    I feel for you.

Are you back from the clinic yet?

I think I was one of the lucky ones who had a tetanus shot that didn't hurt. I had a shot a few years ago when I was bitten by a dog at work (in the face, no less) and I never had any soreness. Maybe they were fibbing about what was in that vaccineStick out tongue

Should be better by 3 days ;) It causes a local immune response so your muscles will get sore. The swelling is usually better by 72 hours.
