Yeesh - that's not the Lebanon trial is it?!  I've never heard of the RV prohibition either - sounds like someone's just doing it because they can. :\

I'm sorry you have to deal with that - and runs at 7am on top of that, just wow. (is it even totally light out at 7am yet?)

Nope, Pawsitive Partners at their facility.  And no, it's not light out yet, but it's inside.

Just a word of warning.  I wouldn't tick off a trial chair or trial secretary.  Entries can get lost in the mail and "the word" about people seems to get around to all the trial secretaries.

Oh trust me, I know!  I was tempted to ask for a refund since I couldn't bring my RV and I didn't have another way to arrive at the trial.  But now it just means that my BF will not have a vehicle, unless you count the RV.  That was going to be the nice thing about having it, that BF would have a vehicle while I spent most of the weekend at a trial.

I absolutely agree ^^^.  Although not comparing, nor saying this is the same situation.............there is a woman that *use to* attend all of the local agility trials in her area.  I think she had to travel a grand total of 15 mins to them.  She is a royal pain in the ***, it is well know that she complains and causes trouble etc, nobody even wants to crate or tent beside her at the trials, let alone the trial having to deal with her.  She also use to be welcome at an great facilities open practice which I attended as well.  She now can't get entries at trials unless she travels and she has been denied the open practice as well.  In short she pee'd in her own cereal.  In AAC the trial host/secretary is allowed to deny entries for whatever reason they see fit, fair or not.

Please be careful, sometimes even the smallest wave can swamp the boat and is it worth it??

As the only indoor heated area within 2 hours of me, I won't burn my bridges, but I'm sure not going to kow tow to them and take it.  They won't get more money from me for trials.  I've been screwed over by them before in trials and I'm just sick of it.  I guess when you have a monopoly on something, it's easy to do as you please and screw the customer.

Well at least you found a cheaper way to practice there, and hopefully a more enjoyable one Angel  Hope you have an awesome weekend, despite the snarky secretary!

Good grief !! I admit I don't know much about agility (yet) but really I would not tolerate that answer or statement.  I would most likely do the following,

I would send a copy of the premium showing RV parking even if it was limited highlighted,  I would include a copy of my conformation that she ref to , then the emails ...then a cover letter stating your concern with the confusion and the poor handling of this for not just you, but for new commers who are looking for decent clubs and activities to help them learn and compete. Obviously this person did not realize or care how her response would be met.  I would send copies of these documents to EVERY person listed in the premium... Show chair to hospitality.

Confusion is a bad thing in agility right?  So the most you can hope for is this woman will learn something and adjust... or maybe just not volunteer to be "in charge" of anything.   plus a weeensey bit of satisfaction knowing she has to be embarassed and ticked off by having her actions so clearly shown.

Unfortunately it would go to her, her, her partner and her.  And her partner is usually the "bad" one.  I'm doing the only things I can that will not burn too many bridges.  I will not attend any more trials, will not take classes with either of them again and will not help this weekend like I usually do.  A boycott, if you will.

What a bummer!! 7:00 a.m. is very early to start a trial. I have been to some big trials and we have never started earlier than 7:45.

Well good luck at the trial!!

Yes, this is the earliest.  I think they're panicked about the entries.  They're doing one ring both days so all classes in the same ring.  I'd rather go home at 8pm then get up at 4am but oh well.  It will only shave off an hour at the end and I'd rather sleep that extra hour.

Thanks!  We need 1 Gamblers Q to finish all our Level 1 titles in USDAA.  I have 2 chances this weekend, one Sat and one Sun.  If we get it Sat, I don't think I'll get up for Sun.  ;)

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Hope you get that Q and Title!!  Hopefully this woman will step up to the plate when she see you this weekend and is pleasant and tries to make amends and apologize.  Kudo's to her if she got the guts to do it.

    Re: Agility trial rant...

Perhaps there is more history here, but based only on the "no RV" incident, I have to offer some sympathy to the secretary. First, Tashakota does have a legitimate gripe about the change in RV policy from what was advertised in the premium list. She would have been well within her rights to send a letter to the secretary simply politely stating that she had made her entry based on the assumption that RV parking would be allowed as advertised in the premium list, and since that policy had changed she would like to withdraw her entry and receive a refund. If the secretary had refused to do that, then Tashakota would certainly have a legitimate gripe. But, I don't entirely blame the secretary for expressing a bit of frustration at being asked for clarification of what was stated on the confirmation, and then after answering that, being asked essentially the same question again. I would be willing to bet that none of the people who are so appalled at her admittedly curt response have ever been in the position of actually organizing a large dog event. I'm pretty sure those who do actually do the bulk of the largely volunteer work of putting on trials can relate to the frustration of having to answer the same questions repeatedly while also tending to the zillion duties associated with actually running the event. Walking a mile in another's shoes and all that....

I've not been the show secretary but the Trial Chairman, yes.  So I have been there to a certain degree and there is history to this as well.  In the past, RV's have been allowed onsite during trial hours but not over night and parking has included all the surrounding parking lots of the business around them, so parking has never been a problem.  So when I finally got an RV and planned to use it, I was told no and I wondered why.

Now that the weekend is over, parking was not really a problem and having an RV in one of the neighboring lots would not have been a problem.  They offered to reserve spaces near the building for those wishing to crate out of their car, so I did.  They apparently expected you to renew that reservation on Sat for Sun, because they did not hold spots on Sunday for anyone that I am aware of.  My friend had planned to crate out of her car all day on Sun but since her car ended up further away, she brought her dog inside.  I brought mine in because I felt it would have been too cold for them in the car all day, though the sun was shining so inside the vehicle would not have been bad, so I told her I did not need the spot.

When I arrived on Sat morning and was talking with a friend telling them I had set up on the mezzanine and the Trial Secretary was nearby and said, "You're not crating inside are you?" with a tone with what I felt was on the verge of getting snotty if I had said yes, which I wasn't.  Then I was telling my friend that my chairs were set up on the upper level and the Trial Chairman walked by and sharply questioned my having chairs and that I could not set up chairs, only crates and to use the chairs already set up along the front.  I said that they were up on the mezzanine level and she said, oh.  Ok.

I've attended trials at only a few places but of those few, the folks that ran this one, IMO, should not run trials because it stresses them out way too much.  They just get way too uptight about the whole thing.

    But it's over.

And no, the Trial Secretary did not apologize and I didn't expect her to.

And Kota did not get that last elusive Q, but he did get his first 2 Q's in Level 2.  :D
