    Kangaroo leather?

Anyone have experience with it in a collar sense. I'm buying a tag collar for Jules..it looks a bit like a choker, but without the tightening ability  (just a circle of leather connected with a ring that you hook the tags to), so it just slips over their head. He has a thinner coat, so collars sometimes rub. So figured he could just wear that with his tags, and wear a regular collar on walks, vet trips, etc.

I'd like to get one for Aesop as well, as it would be less annoying with his coat. However, sometimes I have to play catch the Chow and do a collar grab when he's running along the fence with the neighbor dogs.  Would it hold up to that?  (he doesn't fight the collar grab, just thinks it's a jolly game)

    ThanksSmile

    Re: Kangaroo leather?

I was going to get kanga leather show leads but it turned out to be WAY too expensive and I was told that the price is more for the novelty of it and the "hand made" creativity of some of the braids and beadwork.  I'm not sure about the collars though, I was only looking at thinner show leads.

What about just a normal rolled leather?

I have kangaroo collars, for Emma. They're too rough, for Ena, even broken in. Neither wears collars all the time, but I've been pretty happy with them. Emma also enjoys collar grabs and rough play, and they're fine, with that. The leather seems pretty strong, and is just getting nicer with age.

Of course, that is with the disclaimer that mine don't wear collars unless they're out of the house, and they don't wear the same ones all the time, so.... meh. Might not be that helpful, LOL. Emma's collars are built like these

With a snap on one end, a ring on the other, and a floating ring. It was done for a better fit. She has a big, ol, doggy head.

    Re: Kangaroo leather?

He does have a rolled leather collar, but it still buggers up his coat a bit on the area where the buckle is (he wears a 26" collar, so the buckle area is about 1"). And on the off chance something happened and they got out, I like to keep their tags on at all times, so I leave their collars on.

The tag collar ran close to the same amount or a little less than the rolled leather. (about $20, so not horrid) It just seemed much thinner, so seemed it would cause less coat issues.  But I also don't want something that will break in a week. I'd not be walking him on it, obviously, but I do have to do the grab and go sometimes in the morning.  (my neighbor has a horrible habit of letting her dogs out the minute mine go out...I'm pretty sure she thinks their bellowing means they're friends...).
