I thought I saw a RR, but it's a boxer.  Of course, I'm rooting for the BC and the BC mix!  Big Smile   It'll be fun to inspire me for tricks to try on my boys for the summer.

The BC was awesome!  Picking stuff up and putting it away...that is so much harder than it looks!  I wanted to teach Kenya that through backchaining but she doesn't want to hold toys in her mouth.

I love the Boxer! Such a handsome boy, even if he doesn't listen the best. hehe

I watched it. I loved the little Boston and was sad to see her go. I would have sent the lady with the schnauzer home. And I thought the Boxer listened well to his dad except when he jumped in the pool. I loved it when the BC just went diving in.

I'm in LOVE with the giant schnauzer, & I really respect the boxer owner.  I know that young boxers tend to "forget" lots of their training when they get excited, so seeing the young boxer doing as well as he did was great.

Re: Greatest American Dog - Watching?

I started watching. I saw it up to where all the people and dogs arrived and decided I had seen enough. It did not intrigue me.

Besides they don't have the "greatest American dog"... mine are not their! WinkBig Smile

Agreed!  She got upset when someone petted her dog?  Ummm....she's living in a house with 11 other dog people and she expects no one will want to touch her dog?  Helllooo, McFlyyyy!!  Oh, and that whole thing about her wedding...loved, loved, loved the guy's response to that.  Too funny!

Re: Greatest American Dog - Watching?

I thought the show was cute. The set was a bit much. Too doggie for me with all the treats and toys and bone motif everywhere! At first I a little skeptical how some of the dogs were going to be competitive up against the more 'professionally' trained dogs. I was heartened to find it was more about the human relationship with the dogs than the actual skill level. At times I think we assume that the better trained a dog is, the better the dog. I know I can feel discouraged when I read posts about how perfect someones dogs are. I think this show will prove that the 'greatest' dogs are not necessarily the ones who can do the most tricks or even the most obedient. The greatest dog is the dog that has the most patience and love for it's owner.

Re: Greatest American Dog - Watching?

I had exactly the reaction that I thought I would when I first saw the previews -- All I could think the entire time was, "Luke and I should be there because we could totally smoke those people!!"  lol

I was flabbergasted that the prissy Schnauzer lady didn't go home.

Ha ha!  I was kinda hoping an idogger would be on the show, lol.  Ya, that lady just had so many things that I did not like, but I think maybe the reason they sent the guy with the Boston home was because they thought he was a) showing off himself more than his dog, and b) stressing his dog out.  I felt bad for him, though.  At this point I think I'm rooting for the guy with the boxer.  He seems like a nice guy, and you can tell he and his dog have a great relationship.  I liked his reaction when his pup jumped in the pool.  Scared at first, but then he said, "You have to learn to swim sometime!"  Sounds like something I would say.  I also like the guy with the Brittany, but it looks like from the previews that next week his little girl gets hurt. Crying I hope it's nothing serious!

I am rooting for Andrew the maltese.Big Smile I was hoping they would include some training footage so I might see how some of these "tricks" are taught.I'll bet this will get the general public more involved with their own dogs.

Re: Greatest American Dog - Watching?

poor ezzie!!! i thought she did great, but her dad totally overdid it all. he shot himself in the foot i think.

i also would have rathered see the schnauzer lady go. i missed the first part (only saw the last 22 mins, so basically just the performance)... but she really just crash and burned.

the bulldog looks like he's about to fall asleep half the time hahaha, but show him a skateboard and he gets to energized!!

should be interesting to see how the rest of the show plays out :)

Re: Greatest American Dog - Watching?

I was sad for Ezzie too but her owner was a jerk.

DH was rooting for the Boxer, he was so proud of him for being so good and the youngest one there, he seems like a blast to be with.

That lil Schnuazer owner just got under my skin, I agree she should have been voted off.

And did you see when the Giant Schnauzer lunged at the JRT? I commented on the fact that the owner should have put him down, holding him up like that was in my opinion the wrong way to introduce dogs to eachother and hardly blamed the Giant Scahnuzer.

I think my favorite is the old man and his.....spaniel is it? That dog pulled at my heartstrings. You know she is a good dog but seems like she isnt up for all the hoopla. I swear she was thinking "oh pop, this isnt the place for me", LOL

I'm excited to see how it progresses but DH got pissy that their were no Pit Bulls, Dobies or Rotties. I had to explain to him that they just arnt meant for that kind of trials, they arnt really working dogs of that sort, LOL. He is biased!
