I gotta wonder sometimes. There has to be others like Mike who would try to find their way to the Bridge -- there are a lot of we humans as anxious to greet newcomer pets as they come over Rainbow Bridge as other animals. Thinking about this has helped me sort of modify some of my ideas ... it's been a comfort to many knowing Mike was around to greet someone special.

And Pooh ... and threedogjeep's Caity ... the Bridge has been busy with dogs with incredible love and character. I told David tonight that the Foxy times I miss most of all were when he was older. I knew him as a pup but it's the character of an older dog ... that gentle quiet wisdom. The love that is just present in all that they do. Rather than just being focused on play they just spread such warmth and peace.

I would have liked Pooh -- and I'd bet he would have said that he had it pretty good. Dogs like that never find fault with "busy" -- they just love us as we are, flaws and all. My sympathies to Pooh's "granddad".

Enjoy yourself Pooh - the Meadow is gorgeous this time of year! And the weather is **always** perfect!!

Pooh

I can't really tell you how old Pooh was, but he looked like a Hysky/Lab or Shepherd/Lab mix and was about 65-70 pounds. Like a lot of old dogs, he gradually lost the use of his hind legs, then stopped eating, and, sadly, the vet came out to euthanize him at home yesterday. He belonged to a busy family, who, with kids and jobs and all, didn't always have a lot of time for him, but the granddad of the family, who is a very close friend of mine, always had a kind word or a pat for him, and he was a faithful dog who loved all his people. He was a gentle guardian and although I only saw him rarely, he always had a tail wag for me, and I will miss him. Run free, Pooh, and give my honey a tail wag as you arrive at the Bridge.
