I am so disappointed with Dog.com and the reason is because i placed an order friday evening and i thought that they would not ship it till monday which is no big deal well that did not happen they did not ship it till yesterday I mean what in the world is going on with customer service, I have ordered many many times and spent thousands of dollars with dog.com It seems like they are getting lazy with how they treat their customers..

I bought a leash from dog.com and Coke chewed it! It's my favorite leash and Kenya's show lead but I can't find it on the site. Is there any chance there are a few left in stock? It's like 3/4" x 4' faux black leather and on the ends where it folds over it's gold and says Dog.com (it's on Kenya in my sig below).

Package tracking

Well, either the package tracking feature is broken or I am a total idiot and can't figure out how to use it appropriately. I entered the tracking number included in the shipping notification email, used the web page linked in that same email, and can't get any tracking to work. I've entered every number or set of numbers I could find in the email, and nothing.

If anyone is able to help or investigate the issue I would greatly appreciate it :)

150% Price Guarantee

I purchased an item at dog.com and found it on another site (amazon.com) for a lower price. When I called to have the price guarantee honored, I was told that dog.com does not honor prices found on amazon.com. I read all of the rules and exlcusions regarding the price guarantee and I do not see which exclusion amazon.com would fall under. The item was being sold directly from amazon (not a third party vendor) and was not for auction. I was told on the phone that the price guarantee is aimed at other online pet stores, but this is not stated in the price guarantee rules and exclusions.

I don't think it would hurt dog.com to list amazon.com (or any other major site) as a site excluded from the guarantee. Also, if the guarantee is aimed only at other pet supply storesy, then say so.

On a more positive note, I would like to say that the customer service rep I spoke to on the phone was very friendly and helpful. I think dog.com does a great job, but this particular policy might need to be clarified a little.

Breed Descriptions

This is neither a forum issue nor a "sales site" issue so I wasn't sure where to post. So I'm reposting the same thing I put in the forum issues area:

Okay, I'm sure this is just a bee up my personal bonnet, but the breed description for the black and tan coonhound, while largely accurate as far as I know, has one line that is just kind of chafing my fanny.

Very active dogs
Consequently do better in the country
Friendly and even tempered

Contrast that to the description of the border collie, a dog a million times more active than the black and tan:

One-person dogs that are intensely loyal and protective
Super intelligent and trainable
Does not tend to wander and doesn't like owner to wander off property either
Reserved with strangers
Needs room to run; becomes hyperactive if not give exercise daily

Can we PLEASE stop perpetuating this idea that hounds can't live in cities? Any active dog needs a dedicated owner and some room to stretch his legs, period, full stop. That does not have any bearing at all on whether you live in the country or in the city or the suburbs. In another dog forum that shall remain nameless there was a long discussion about why hounds, especially large scenthounds, can't seem to get adopted when they wind up in shelters. Part of it is because people have this strange notion that of all the active working dog breeds out there (of which the coonhounds are in the low-to-middle spectrum as far as exercise needs go), hounds only belong way out in the sticks. Why? What is it about a scenthound that requires being in the country? Considering many people in the country don't have fences and coonhounds need fences if they are going to be kept from going stray or meeting an untimely end, I'd say there are distinct advantages to city life for a hound.

So, dear dog.com can you please change that line in the black and tan breed description? And any other place where the breed description presumes to tell someone that the location of their home has anything at all to do with their fitness for caring for the dog? It's really not that relevant if you are a caring, dedicated owner.

Sizing?

Does anyone know how dog.com items are sized? I'm looking at the festive doggy clothing and there are sizes given in inches, but I have no idea what that refers to - the circumference of the neck? Height of the dog? Length of the back? Has anyone bought dog.com dog clothes before and know how it's sized? I sent in an inquiry but no response.

Outrageous shipping for small orders!

I have been a VERY loyal dog.com customer for over a year now, and have literally ordered several hundred dollars worth of merchandise over this period. I went to place a small order for some toys and treats for my sweet little ones today, and when I went to check out and saw a shipping charge of $13.95 my jaw dropped. This is an absolutely insane fee for an order. I can order from a wholesale petstore called Pet Edge and pay their small order fees and regular shipping fees and still be less then this! Their grand total shipping is $13.77 and I get 3 times the number of treats for the same price. I can also go to any pet store online and get expedited, 2 or 3 day Fed Ex or UPS shipping for the same prices or less then what dog.com is charging for USPS ground shipping for an order under $30! And unfortunately for dog.com it takes sometimes two and three weeks to get my order with USPS shipping! Several of the other stores offer free shipping and even though their products are more expensive it is still more cost effective and can save almost $10 an order as compared to dog.com!

I have a loyalty to dog.com and I do love their service and their helpful staff, and should the shipping prices change or they offer a really good promotional discount then I might continue doing business with them, but this shipping increase is verging on ridiculous. The general public will not pay those kinds of shipping prices, and neither will I. This is gouging, as I know that USPS shipping is NOT that expensive (try $4.95 for priority shipping with USPS!) For $14 I had better be getting my order within 3 days. This is a horrible decision for dog.com to implement, and will affect a lot of their customers like myself that have been here for a while, especially to do something like this in the holiday season! Why pay so much to get it shipped to me, when I can drive to a pet store and spend the time and gas to go there, as well as the pet store mark up and sales taxes for a better deal then the shipping of dog.com. Even when dog.com's shipping was $8.95 it was still above the average shipping charges of other online stores (which are usually between $5 and $7) but their product prices were occasionally better, and it usually equaled about the same or better then their competitors so I chose to go with who I was comfortable shopping with (customer loyalty if you may). I rarely place an order over $30 unless I'm ordering something big, so I will be taking my business elsewhere.

This shipping increase will definitely deter me from shopping at dog.com again. Unless they have some really great promotions throughout the holidays- I will not be placing any other orders with dog.com.

Rare breed gift items

I would love to see gift items featuring rare breeds, such as (of course) the papillon. It's really hard to find nice items featuring some of the more unusual breeds, and I would definitely definitely buy them from dog.com if you carried them!

I received a coupon for $15.00 off from AKC reg. Thought I would try Dog.com since I needed to get some Pet Tab Plus Vitamins for my dachshunds. I also ordered several other items bringing my total order to almost $56.00 which should have qualified for free shipping (ground). I never was able to select ground fro the free shipping even though none of the items I selected had an FOB charge. At checkout it originally showed .99 for shipping 2 days but when I got to the finalization it changed to the $1.99.

Also, I received an email the next day stating that I needed a prescription for Heartgard or Ivermectin (which was not even not on my order). I did not check my email until 2 days after I placed the order when I wanted to track my order thinking everything was ok. My fault for not checking sooner? Normally, the places I order from call me if there is a problem with my order. I emailed them immediately and explained it was their mistake on the item and that my order in their system clearly showed Pet Tabs Plus Vitamins that did not require any prescription that I knew of and would they please send the order asap. Order was not released until the next day. I received the order 4 days after that with no offer of appology or credit for shipping or anything.

I doubt if I will ever purchase again. Will go back to DrsFosterSmith.com

I love shopping at Dog.com, great selection and prices. Love the $6 flat shipping fee special, hope you offer that more than once a year. One thing I found confusing, when I did a search for a tar/sulfur shampoo, the list that appeared had certain prices listed beneath the names. Then when I selected a brand to purchase, the price was higher. WHY??

I was disappointed the last few times I looked, you were out of the 6.5 inch Booda Bones. My dogs love them and that's the perfect size for them, hope you'll carry them regularly.

Who do I contact about carrying certain items?

The other day i registered my dog with the AKC and paid the extra money for a package deal which included $40 in credit with dog.com

Today i get the email with that credit only to find out it consists of $5, $10, $10 and $15 credit. Which means in order to use my $40 i have to place 4 seperate orders with dog.com

To me this is nothing more then a scam and if i had known this is what they were going to do, i would not have paid the extra money.

I placed one order with dog.com previously before this. but because of this, I will not buy from dog.com again.

Pricing "mistakes"
