    Neo Update w/ pics

Figured I'd post an update for those who were sort of following the Neo Saga.

He is currently living in my bedroom and, as far as I know, things are going well (fingers crossed).  No one has said anything (at ALL...it was never even acknowledged that he got moved which was weird) so I'm assuming things are fine.

Neo himself is doing fantastically.  I switched him onto Tast of the Wild a while ago and then started adding salmon oil into his evening Wellness grain-free canned and his coat is unbelievably soft.  He also gained an undercoat, which he never had until then.  His coat had been so thin and weird, but now it is lush and shiny and sleek and soft.  He is like black velvet.  He also gained a lot of energy with the new foods and has been showing off his agility by way of mid-air backflips...which are always fun!  He's prone to sending himself sailing skyward with little regard for his own safety...which worries me sometimes, but he has such fun with it so I organized my room with that in mind so that there is enough open space in the center for him to sail safely.  I've been halfheartedly trying to get pictures of him flying, but it is difficult with a short-tailed toy and only me to man both toy and camera.  He will go like 4 ft in the air, flip upside down, and catch his toy all in one go.  It's really incredible to watch...reminds me of those wildcat videos.

He's getting along reasonably well with Cairo as well.  Sometimes Cairo will get a little too antsy and pounce at Neo if he is doing something Cairo thinks is Bad (getting into something I would chastise Cairo for getting into for example), but he is getting more and more accustomed to his presence and vice versa.  So I can play with Neo and have him do flips right in front of Cairo and he just sleeps on or casually watches us. Neo does, occasionally, get an overwhelming compulsion to go up and touch noses with Cairo for a second before turning around and retreating to a corner to eye him curiously...and once in a fit of kitty zoomies he flailed himself around wildly and found himself lying upside down next to Cairo's face - and you could SEE it on his face for a second in which he paused and very clearly was weighing his options... and then grabbed Cairo on each cheek with a paw (I keep his front nails trimmed short for this reason haha) and then magically Transported himself to a corner while Cairo jumped up in surprise.  So I have a feeling that kind of thing will continue until they're both comfortable with each other enough to, hopefully, play.  They've improved significantly in the week or so that Neo's been up here.  Neo has also stopped the meowing that my roommates were so upset about.  He meows now and then for seemingly fun or to get my attention (though I don't listen to him because I don't want him to get INTO that habit) or if I'm preparing his food but it's not a big deal.

    And some pictures!

This first one was taken the day after I moved him in.  That fox that's sitting there was unintentionally the most efficient way to get Cairo acclimated to Neo...because the moment I let Neo loose in my room he BEELINED for that fox and spent a good five minutes completely absorbed in sniffing him with absolutely zero regard for Cairo lying on my bed right there.  I've got a crate set up in my closet there that has the litterbox in it and that's also where I feed him...and the door can't open any more than that so Cairo can't get in to raid his food...or poop. Ick!

And a couple from yesterday and the day before.

His eyes are strikingly beautiful.  They are yellow rimmed with distinct green on the inside. Hard to get in pictures...they tend to look one or the other depending on his surroundings.

    *yawn*

    Taking off :)

And mid-air.  Because that is the logical place for a cat to be, clearly.

So...  happy ending, for now.  Hopefully it will stay that way :)  He's definitely high-maintenance (he gets into EVERYTHING...while I was typing this he discovered the wonders of physics by pushing all the items off one of my shelves) but 100% worth it.  I think we might be having issues with ear mites because I've noticed his ears are dirty looking and he's been shaking his head a lot the past couple of days...but that should be easy enough to clear up.

Neo is a handsome boy! And, as the owner of a black cat, I congratulate you on getting some splendid pics. It can be tricky with the black pets with lighting and suchStick out tongue

You can see the coloring in his eyes - very unique and beautiful!  I have a love for black cats, my first cat Wolfie was all black too.   Neo is just gorgeous, but he looks like a lot of fun too!

I know that all too well!!  All of my kitties are black but in most of the picks, they look brown!  Neo is a handsome boy!  Sniffle, Snort...  None of my kitties have green eyes.
