We saw the vet-Update on Tempo

I just wanted to say update and say thanks to everyone for helping me thru the scarey worm night and answering all my new kitty mom questions.

Update on Tempo--He is 21 weeks now and DH took him today for his final kitten shots and his first rabies.  He had his 2nd feline leukemia vaccine too since our greenhouse cats do come in pretty often and they interact and walk on the same floors.

The vet gave him more worm medication--just for today.  And, said NO, very firmly to Interceptor.  DH even reminded him how much exposure he has to outside cats, still no.  He told him this is nothing to worry about worms are very common in kittens.  We know that, but with Willow I'm more concerned she will pick them up--probably irrational because she is on Interceptor.  But, she's been thru a lot and I get very nervous with her getting sick again.

He also said next time DO NOT call the emergency vet to call him and he will take care of him--he's on call for his own patients.  AWESOME!  He asked DH how much to ER charged us and said, no, call me next time.  He's not Willow's vet so we didn't know this.

He also said within one month to get him neutered before he starts spraying.

How do they usually do with that?  Should I take more than a day out of work??

    He weighed six lbs.

The vaccines wiped him out right away.  But, he's starting to perk back up tonight.

He had said if there was any pain to give 2 drops of baby Tylenol.  Tylenol???  I thought they couldn't have that??  Or is that just dogs?

Thanks for reading about Tempo and thanks again for helping him!

    Lori

When Bach was neutered, we dropped him off in the morning & picked him up around mid-day.  He was back to normal the next day.  Recovery time is really quick for male kitties, so I wouldn't plan of taking extra days off.

That's great that his vet takes his own emergencies!

I would skip the tylenol.  I *thought* that it was toxic to cats, but maybe I am wrong???  In any case, I wouldn't give it to my cat.

Thanks, Amanda!  He's doing fine anyway.  He was slept most of the day but was playing and being a kitten head tonight.  So, no Tylenol or anything else needed.  I wasn't sure about that either--but DH went so he could of said something else.

I think I will just plan to have him neutered on a Thursday and take a long weekend.

    :)

Cat neuters are very, very simple procedures..even less complicated than dog neuters. It literally takes about 3 minutes from anesthetizing them to when they're done. We neutered one of our little stray kitties at work today, hoping it will get him adopted faster, and within an hour he was rolling around with a little stuffed toy in his cage.  They generally do not even have stitches for the procedure.

ETA that I'm glad Tempo is on the mend. He's a cute little guySmile

Thank you!  I'm really glad it won't be too hard on the little guy.  He really wants Willow to like him, he rolls over on his back when he sees her!
