Honestly, I'm not at all impressed. Below are the ingredients in the Active Adult formula. I bolded the ingredients that would send me running away from this. The first ingredient is one of them, but I can't figure out how to change the color so you can tell I tried to bold it.
Poultry by-product meal (natural source of glucosamine and omega-6 fatty acids), whole wheat, wheat flour, poultry fat (naturally preserved with mixed tocopherols), brewers rice, corn gluten meal, beet pulp, natural chicken flavoring, flaxseed (natural source of omega-3 fatty acids), spray-dried egg, aspergillus meal (natural source of glucosamine), bentonite, potassium chloride, menhaden fishmeal (natural source of glucosamine), sodium hexametaphosphate, calcium propionate (a preservative), dried brewers yeast, salt, yucca schidigera extract, vitamins (vitamin E supplement, vitamin A supplement, vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin B12 supplement, niacin supplement, riboflavin supplement, calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, biotin, thiamine, menadione sodium bisulfite complex, folic acid), minerals (zinc amino acid complex, ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate, iron amino acid complex, copper sulfate, manganese amino acid complex, manganese sulfate, ethylenediamine dihyroiodide, sodium selenite)
First off, "poultry" is too vague. They should say WHAT kind of poultry they are using. When they don't, it means the source could vary from bag to bag. By-product, no thanks. Use real meat, please. Lots of grains in the top of the list, which means that this a grain-heavy food, even though a pseudo-meat is the first ingredient, so again another red flag. Menadione sodium bisulfate is suspected to cause many health problems. Pet foods use it as a cheap source of Vitamin K. I was curious about the menhaden fishmeal, so I looked it up. According to wikipedia, that species of fish is not used for human consumption because they spoil too quickly. If it's not safe for people, it's not going to be fed to my dogs.
