My housekeeper was deported yesterday.  I am devastated.  Sad

Amanda, I will move to Texas, and be your housekeeper, so long as I can bring Pirate. Your dogs are awesome, the boys sound like a blast, and I'm pretty sure your DH is a keeper. All I need is a small salary and enough time off to finish my degree :) I could even multitask and tutor the boys, & take care of the dogs while you are out of town!

    Mmm, chocolate.

Meg, I'd be happy to have both you & Pirate.  There is an awesome college here where you can finish your degree.  The kids & dogs are, usually, well behaved, though we do have a few of the ADHD variety.

My DH is definitely a keeper!  After he called to let me know that we are housekeeper-less, he called back to let me know that he & the boys are cleaning, & cooking dinner tonight.

    Amanda

    Re: Mindless chatter Friday!

Meg, I'm sorry about the reference from your old boss.  It seems ridiculous that she agreed to give you a good reference and then doesn't follow through.

So, I have to share a quick story about Mr. Eli.  He escaped from the backyard yesterday, and DH and I have been going ballistic trying to figure out where the hole in/under the fence is (luckily he's escaping into our back neighbor's yard which is completely fenced).  I've been thinking that he's probably digging holes to get to the squirrels who are UNMERCIFUL to the dogs and tease them by cavorting in the neighbor's yard where they full well know the dogs can't get to him.  So the three dogs have been supervised in the backyard since we can't find an escape route, so I was out in the back with the dogs when I let them out when I came home.  There happened to be a squirrel waving its tail in the yard behind us, and the dogs were going crazy, and I was GOBSMACKED to see Eli make a GIANT leap, *shink* out goes the claws, and UP INTO THE TREE HE GOES!  Dogs are NOT supposed to climb trees!  And sure enough, he makes this flying-squirrel-esque swan dive into the neighbor's yard and takes after the squirrel.  Mind you, this notch in the tree he can climb to is easily at eye level on me, and he's a small dog!  I'm torn between being proud that he's so intelligent and frustrated because he's so intelligent! Stick out tongue

How do you train a dog not to climb trees?

I hope everyone's having a great day preparing for the holiday!

I don't know how any of you can drink beer or wine! Stick out tongue

I'm a vodka girl through and through.  It's never let me down like rum did.  I also like an occasional whiskey sour/ whiskey and coke though.  Oh and lets not forget gin....gin and pink lemonade.  I'm going to get a drink. hahaha.

The floor is over half done! .....being laid.

LOL, tell that to some Jack Russells I know. Wink   At least the mystery is now solved and maybe you can block off access to his diving platform. Eli, you are one determined and smart dog to figure out how to get to those squirrels. :

Lunch went well with our friends. I think it cheered up our depressed friend, he was laughing a few times and I haven't seen that in a while from him.  He took us to see his new apartment after we ate.  It's very nice and brand new.  The entire place is only 30% rented and its kinda spooky that there are so few people living there.  It has a very nice clubhouse, pool, gym and sauna.

I ate too much at lunch and then had a few glasses of wine.  Now I need to get some housework done but just want to lay on the couch and watch the cooking network till I fall asleep.....just a little nap.

That's what I've been watching this afternoon. Just watched Tyler Florence cooking a pot roast. It looked amazing!! I haven't had any wine yet but I'm heading in that direction soon.

There's an informercial on right now showing this little device that you put under your chin and push down on and it's supposed to work as well as a neck or chin lift. The before & after pics made me laugh. Do people really believe that kind of stuff??Confused

He was riding his bike and he looked one way and didnt see a car and so he went and a car from the other direction hit him. From what I hear hes okay, but I'll stop by and see him later.

Fingers crossed that your friend is ok.

My DH, & younger brother are building a sparkler bomb to blow up in our pond tomorrow.  Some days, boys worry me.

Corgichick, I hope your friend is OK.

Amanda, your advice has failed me - I don't want tequila to be my friend anymore. He's fickle.
