    First Cruise Ever!

I am so excited!  I just booked a cruise.  Its only a 3 day cruise since its our first...we just don't know how our sea legs will hold out...LOL  But, we wanted to do something special to celebrate our 50th birthdays.  Mine is in August and DH's is in October.  So, we will have a combination celebration in September.

MusicMusic Going to the Bahamas...Oh yeah!  MusicMusic

I'd been doing a bit of researching and there's not much choice for a short 3 day cruise from Galveston or anywhere in SE US.  Don't really want to go to Mexico.  So, opted for a cruise out of Port Canaveral to Nassau Bay.  We'll fly to Orlando using my frequent flyer mileage then embark on a cool 3 day tour.

I went all out and got us first class air tickets; and a suite on the ship.

I can't wait...I just keep my fingers crossed that no stinkin' hurricane ruins my plans.

Have you ever been on a cruise?  Tell me about your experiences.

I've only been on a cruise courtesy of the US Navy.  I think, even on a civilian cruise, the transit time is the toughest - it can get boring.  It's good you picked a short one to start.

I'm sure it'll be fun.  We'll start the "no hurricane" vibes now!

That's great!! What a fun trip and awesome celebration for you guys!

I did one short cruise to the Bahamas with my DH and his family and that was a ton of fun, and another 10 day cruise through the Panama Canal, some of central America, then home to the east coast via Mexico. That cruise was awesome and I want to go on the Holland America Alaska cruise next, but we need to come up with the money!

When is it?  That's mostly the big deal with the weather.

The food is always grand on a cruise.  David and I haven't been yet, but I went on one with a friend years ago out of Long Island that literally just went out thru LI Sound into the ocean and back.

    Re: First Cruise Ever!

Our cruise date is 9/10.  I'm hoping my body can handle it...because I sure would love to do a European or Alaskan cruise one day.

Yes, lets please start the good weather vibes sooner rather than later.  Smile

We're on a Carnival cruiseline...they tell me that if there is inclement weather...they just find another route/destination.

    Re: First Cruise Ever!

You should be long past the danger zone by then, AND you're almost out of the worst heat of summer.  If you ever get the chance try OCTOBER down here sometime.  It is THE nicest month in this area ever.  The worst heat is over, leaving you with lovely days, *not* crowded and most places are cheaper (until you get to Biketoberfest -- which is why that got started initially!! October - cheap month!)

But September should be lovely and the added benefit is that by that time, the ocean is warmer than it is early in the spring/early summer.

    Re: First Cruise Ever!

Fellow cruiser here!  though I haven't been on one for about 20 years. my mom was a travel agent for a few years when I was young and my dad collected ocean liner memorabilia off of old ocean liners that weren't around anymore. So my parents had a love for cruising and usually took me with them.  I have been on a dozen or more, mostly to the Caribbean and Mexico. Among my favorites were Columbia, the Panama Canal and the San Blas Islands. I have wanted to go for many years to Alaska and I looked into it a couple months ago, but a trip out of the country was actually cheaper this year. So Alaska will have to wait.

You will have a blast and it likely won't be your last cruise. You will get cruisin fever! Cool

    Have fun!
