Thanks Gina!  We will move ahead if we have more than 8 participants.  This will be international - so if you don't want to send something international, please don't sign up.   Please let me know any ideas, etc. you may have.  I am thinking about doing the swap around the beginning of April...let me know what ya all think!

    Thanks!

I'm in, I missed the Valentine swap.   The first of April sounds good for me but whatever is decided is fine.  Theme is Spring?

I'm in too!  But for some reason it won't let me vote in the poll....there's nowhere to click.

ETA...never mind...I refreshed my browser and it came up that time, so I did vote that I'm in. Smile

It's done via the SwapBot website.

Once the Swap Coordinator has the dates, theme, and such decided they post an ANNOUNCEMENT here giving the details and a link for you to sign up including the password. Our Swaps are always private/password only to avoid "strangers" kinda joining in LOL.

Once that Announcement is posted, you go to the site, sign up there, entering your name and addy and a bit of other info, pick a username (usually the same as here so people know who you are) and then you wait.

Once the sign up deadline is past you are assigned your partner or partners via email (the website assigns partners and EVERYONE will be matched up!)...and you go out and shop/assemble your items to send via snail mail to your partner(s). There is a "send by" deadline too...so do pay attention to that part. Once you have sent out you just wait ever so patiently for YOUR partners items to arrive on your doorstep...and enjoy!

We've done candy, cards, little knick knacks, recipes, etc in the past. Typically there's some sort of theme that helps you narrow your shopping, and a dollar limit as well to ensure it is fair and afforadable for all.

That's the overview...few other things but that's the main stuff!

I'm in.  I voted before I read the rest of the thread and saw the international thing.  I'm game as long as Canada is included.  LOL.

I'm really clueless as to ideas though.

Re: Spring Swap Discussion Thread/Interest Poll

How does the $5 range sound to everyone?  I know once you include postage it can get expensive.  In terms of themes, something with a flowers on it (stickers, note cards, etc.) or a I have done gift cards too, but not sure how that works internationally (i.e. is a Walmart gift card purchased in the US good in Canada?).

    Some other ideas

    - Themed Postcards (i.e. have something in particular on it)

    - Cards

    - Stickers

    - Gift cards

    - Note pads

    - Crazy socks

    - $1 store items

The issue with doggie stuff is some people have more than one pooch so it can get a little expensive if you get someone with multiple, especially if you only have one.

I'm of the maybe variety myself, I want to make sure that I can ship overseas for whatever we're swapping. Smile  I've had a blast on the last few swaps, so I'm up for it again!

Also...I've fixed my address in Swapbot, so no one sends me anything that takes an extra ten days to get here because the Post Office needed to "find" me. Embarrassed

The issue with doggie stuff is some people have more than one pooch so it can get a little expensive if you get someone with multiple, especially if you only have one.

Not to mention the dietary restriction issue if one were to get something many dogs could enjoy like treats...or that some dogs only like specific types of toys or owner safety concerns with things like that. When you are trying to keep the cost low dog items are very hard to do unless you do some breed themed item...and then you have folks with various breeds or mixes Wink

I like the flowers theme, Lisa...the possibilities there are wide indeed, and could include doggy items if the person sending knows their partners animals well enough...but is open for other things as well.
