    "time to get up"

who needs an alarm clock with one has Molly Yes I don't sleep well when there is a full moon so this morning I was ignoring my alarm clock (love that snooze button).

Molly finally decided enough was enough and stuck her nose under my blankets and pushed them back off me.

She will also get my husband out of bed if he tries to sleep past his annoited time

    Re: "time to get up"

I was getting ready to post a no sleeping in at this house thread!!

I feed the dogs at 10. Joker knows when it's time to eat. And dang it you better not be a minute late!!!

I tried it this morning. Samantha was in our room watching cartoons and I had stayed up till 4 playing Warcraft(computer game) so I thought I would be a little lazy this morning.

Nope not gonna happen. Joker is not gonna go without his breakfast!! He just started out whining. Then letting out a little yelp. And finally started howling. He dont bark. I dont know why but he doesnt bark. He howls. Lol. I had to get up and feed everyone or Joker would have woken JJ up(he works night shift).

    Re: "time to get up"

Rex is the only dog who really wants everyone to stick to the schedule!  We are pretty early risers but once in a blue moon I will sleep till, gasp, 6:30am on the weekends and Rex will keep checking with DH sort of to say, "hey, shouldn't we wake her up, Dad?".  I'm sure the fact that he wants his breakfast has nothing to do with it!  LOL

Molly, let your Mom get a few more minutes before you take the covers off!!!  That is so funny!

I feel blessed that our dogs don't wake us up when we sleep in.  The new foster, otoh, thinks that we should have a 7 am wake up call. Confused

Bugsy feels that any movement after about 5 must indicate we are getting up.  he has gotten much better but he is wide awake from 5:30 or so just sitting in his bed staring at our bed for the sign we are getting up.  Like JackieG I am an early riser but I will admit that 7 would be nice.

Kle Bugsy would eat your house if you didn't feed him until 10.

Gobie my minpin is a 6:30 waker, no matter how early or late you take him out for his last evening potty. It's so annoying. Just once I'd love to sleep. Though yesterday he woke me up at 5:30! Geez! Of course then he expects breakfast right this MINUTE! So it starts out in a whine... "hmmmm??" And then a whine and a hum. "Hmm MRR MRRR?!" And escalates to "BARK! BARK! and so on until I get out of bed to potty him so that he doesn't wake up the hu-kids! Yeesh.

    Re: "time to get up"

I get up very early 4:30 a.m. no reason just what I am used to.  Hot Shot will start nudging me if I am not up at 4:30.  I have never been one to sleep in but if I dont have the alarm set on weekends my auto Hot Shot alarm will make sure I am up and around, lol.   They dont usually eat until around 6:30 a.m. so there is no other reason other than its "time to get up, MOM"

When I get up Maggie just scratches at my brothers door so she can go sleep with him for a few more hours.  Lazy dog.  Now my birds on the other hand, they are my alarm clock.  They start singing at 7am every morning, earlier if I have the imputus to move.

    Re: "time to get up"

I've learned to not make eye contact with Molly while I'm in bed. If she sees my eye pop open she's right there with a toy squeaking in my face, sometimes a shoe, sometimes a cat toy - doesn't matter what. I think she stands there and stares at me until she sees an eyelid moving.

That's one thing about our dogs - it's nice for someone to be happy to see us first thing in the morning.

Too true! A person could never be depressed around my dogs. Every morning is a reason to celebrate in their eyes.

My dogs let me sleep in to a certain extent. Every morning around 7, they will start to get restless. They don't poke me or anything (unless they are desperate to go out), but all 3 will climb up on my bed, lay down, shift their weight etc. - all that subtle (or maybe not so subtle) stuff while they wait for me to wake up. If I let them out and back in again, they will let me sleep some more thankfully.

You are right about the eye contact though. Eye contact means to jump with all 4 paws on my chest and lick my face.

I ge tup at 5:45 to potty Gypsy and then head abck to bed for awhile.  She is NOT a problem--Am Staffs are very lazy (as compared to any other terrier--fire balls when compared to many other breeds!) and love to sleep.  harvey (one of my cats) OTOHHuh?is a royal pain in the *** in the morning when I want to sleep past 7:45. He stomps all ove rme andknocks things off the night stand. I actually keep a squir tbottle on the night stand to nail him if he gets on my nreves past a certain point!

    Re: "time to get up"

I have to drag my dog out of bed in the morning.  Even saying "do you want to go for a walk" just gets her to roll over and want a belly rub.  Usually I have to coax her out with a treat.  It's pathetic!
