    GSD eye condition

I've noticed an eye condition is a number of GSDs.  It's a dramatic redness to the sclera.  I am familiar with "pannus", but not familiar enough to know if there are any variations.  The cornea is not visibly effected, but the sclera is mildly red to blood red.  My sis's GSD has had this for years.  I have encountered others, and a friend just contacted me because she is concerned about this condition in her own dog.

    Any thoughts?

    Re: GSD eye condition

I guess I've been extremely blessed in that I've not had to deal with eye conditions in my GSDs.  It would be interesting to learn more.

    Re: GSD eye condition

I'm going to see if I can get a good pic of my sis's GSD.  It's freaky.  I've even seen something that looks similar is people.  It's like the blood vessels in the eye burst.  It's more than likely something seen in many, if not all breeds, but it just seems odd that the only cases I have seen have been in a few GSDs.  I never saw it in mine.

    Thanks for you interest.
