Kivi Tarro the Lappie is growing up! (corvus)

Yes, I have failed to post pictures for many months. Couldn't find the camera cord. Oh, and went through a period where I wasn't on the forum anyway.

But here's a couple to show how far we've come:

Back when he was a wee little thing, stealing Jill's rope toy.

"Big dog likes this, so I'm gonna take it."

When he got his frosting as his undercoat started coming in.

    "My feet are strange!"

    After his first bath

    "This is my best side."

Loving his blue monkey. We call it Blunkey.

    Nung nung.

I love this pic. Wrestling with him trying to get him to sit still for a photo and suddenly we just had this moment that my partner caught on camera. Just staring at each other. I'm pretty sure a moment later he tried to bite my nose.

And here's one my brother took on the weekend. He's growing so fast!

    "I am very noble!"

Pics like that reassure me that brushing him twice a day is doing something. He spent the weekend annoying my mother's dogs and pushing them too far so they snapped at him. He learnt that small puppies need to be treated gently, Pyry doesn't like having his legs bitten, and Jill's tolerance of him did not extend to allowing him to take her lip in his teeth and pull. That he even got far enough to pull was testament to just how tolerant Jill is! He'd never try that on with Penny. He was also back to his old rope toy stealing antics. One of the Border Collies at the dog park has been teaching him why it's not a good idea to steal toys in the middle of a fetch game, but I guess he only applies that lesson to her.

He is a beautiful cuddlebear! I give him squeezy hugs several times a day. He is okay with that. Smile

Mourning Penny. We were going to be young together forever, but I'm glad we grew up together instead.

    He looks great!

I love that Spitz/Northern type dogs of any breed really always retain their compact structure regardless of age. They don't go lanky and weird like other breeds do in their adolesence, tho they may lose coat. My Akitas were always slightly goofy or so I thought...looking back now they always held their outline and aside from butt high or slightly toeing out the outline remained compact and square or slightly off square.

Always interesting to see the growth patterns in different body styles.

Finnish Lapphunds get to be somewhere between a BC and a Sibe in size, although girls are smaller a lighter. I'm actually not exactly sure how much he weighs at the moment, but let's just say he is suddenly too big to easily lift! I'm happy with his body at the moment, though. He's pretty lean and hard under all that cuddly fur. Penny has gained a lot of weight, though. Pinching puppy's food when no one is looking.

Last night he came and pressed himself into my chest for big cuddles. I think he likes cuddles nearly as much as I do. We inspired someone on our street to google Finnish Lapphunds! He is an absolute delight and has been an incredibly easy puppy. This morning I found a slug in his coat when I was brushing him! Such a grotty boy. Smile
