My Weekend in Vancouver - pic heavy (VanMorrison)

Hi - my name is B.C (bear cub) Barry and I'm a friend of Morrison's so he is letting me tell my story here.  Morrison wasn't allowed to go on this trip with his Mum and Dad so he and Monroe got to stay at his day-care for a whole weekend.  Morrison's Mum and Dad went to visit her grandparents (93 yrs and 97 yrs) for a short visit every day - the rest of the time I took them on a tour of my home in Britsh Columbia...enjoy!

Here is me at the Capalano Suspension Bridge - it's pretty scary and swings too much for us little bears..

This area is a huge forest park with the biggest trees you have ever seen.  They built great boardwalk paths to protect the vegetaion but I wanted you to know that they allow leashed dogs to visit!  Here is the rest stop for dogs.

Then I took Morrison's Mum and Dad up a very long Gondola ride to the top of Growse Mountain.  We were so high up that there was snow!

Mum thought that I looked very small compared to my cousins.  They were movie actors so they got really spoiled and now they have to live here.

When we got hungry we went for some A&W root bear..I mean beer..and some fries poutine...yummmmm.  Only available in Canada!

Anthropology and the history of the First Nations in British Columbia is very important.  If you look at a $20 CAD bill you will see this sculpture.  It represents Crow finding the shell that contained the first people.  When Crow opened it the people climbed out and now they live there.

And the Shaman of a Tribe rides in a canoe, like this, with all the totems of the peoples.

After a full day of touring we needed a tank of gas - check out those prices!!

If you ask me, this is all very exhausting.  I'll just check out the in-room movies while you all go out for sushi...

Well, I'm B.C. Barry - signing off now.  If any of you need a tour guide, just let me know.  I'll be at Morrison and Monroe's house.

What a great idea for a photo/vacation diary!  Your photos are great and the captions are, too!

We went to Vancouver a few years ago and had a great time.  The city was easy to get around, the parks and gardens were beautiful, the people were nice, the food was delicious.  We'd love to go back someday.

    Hey Oranges,

we were actually driving out to Chilliwack every day to visit the grandparents (about 70 minute drive, each way).  We stayed at the Westin Bayshore so we had wonderful access to all the Vancouver points of interest.  Next time we go I really want to spend some time expanding the touring area - it is sooo beautiful!

My Granny kept on asking why we don't move there but I just couldn't - those mountains are awefully big if you're not used to things looming over you all the time.  I'm really a prairie girl at heart.

Re: My Weekend in Vancouver - pic heavy (VanMorrison)

You get used to the mountains. If I were to walk out my door and hike for about 3 to 4 hours, I'd reach a mountain base. Hmmm. I should do that this summer. Lol.

My advice if you do travel more in Van, stay out of Chinatown or lock the doors as you drive through.. Nice place to drive through but I wouldn't stop.

I heard that the people who run Stanley Park want to turn into a real Jurassic Park. Lol. Now if it happens, we'll see.

That was GREAT! I have visited Vancouver many times and have also stayed at the Bayshore. I love the view! Many years ago DH and I flew to Williams Lake in northern BC and took a 5 day white water raft trip down the Fraser River. It was the best vacation in the world. Thanks for the memories!

Here in Minnesota we get deep fried cheese curds but I REALLY don't like them.  Fries Poutine are nice, crispy french fries with a dollop of gravy and a sprinkling of cheese curds - which melt slowly.

They originally came out of Quebec and then many of the fast food chains started having it on their menus.  A&W is the best of the bunch, outside Quebec.

hmm sounds interesting! I'm sure it's good though. We can get fried cheese curds here at A&W and Culver's...i looooooove them!

Here our like "state dish" i guess, is a hotbrown. It sounds kinda gross...it's a piece of bread with ham and turkey, some kinda gravy like sauce smothered in cheese with bacon and tomatoes. It's the yummiest thing i can think of!
