my new foster needs to put weight on

i am fostering the most wonderful mini poodle, ace, who is extremely underweight.  he weighs a little over seven pounds.  i have a mini who is built very similar to ace, who weighs in at a very appropriate 10.5 pounds.  i had been feeding them the same amount, 1/8c canidae dry with a tablespoon of cottage cheese in the morining and 1/8c with a heaping tablespoon of canned at night.  i just upped ace's food to heaping 1/8c.  is that enough of an increase or should i go to a 1/4c?  they do get a few treats during the day.

    thanks

How long have you had Ace? What was he being fed, before? What does the vet say, about his condition?

With underweight dogs, it is better to feed them smaller meals, more times throughout the day. Feeding them too much at one time is not healthy. I would add another meal during lunch time or something.

How long have you had him? Weight gain takes time, when done properly. You don't want to rush it!
