I am sure TGI tastes great, but they put too many salts etc in it all.  I am too old for that anymore!

Tonight I made maple pork chops and stuffing with green beans. It was San Frantastic! I mean delish. : )

lol dogslife, I had to read "maple pork chops" 5 times before I read the "maple" i thought you said "male pork chops" lol and i sat here thinking, if male pork chops taste different from female pork chops lol

Anyway, I LOOOOOVE green beans!!!  mmmmm!

Tonight I had a toasted bacon sandwich again.  I swear, I am DONE with bacon for a little while.  I had bacon for dinner wednesday night, thursday night, saturday morning and yestefrday afternoon and yet again tonight lol.  There was a sale on bacon and my mother kind of went nuts buying it lol.

You are too funny, L.michelle!  Oh, yes they are way better than the femaple pork chops, Haha!

Ot, I love the puppy pic you have of your labs. very cute.

On topic, this is the time of year where sometimes get in a cooking slump..Need new ideas and enthusiasm for "what to make tonight!"

I have been using scallions more often and really love the zesty flavor they give the food, and some of the kids dislike onion so it is a good change for everyone.  Also, like to try new spices.  Anyone have any interesting spices that they enjoy using and what they use them with??

I looooove roasted onions, you put them in a roasting pan with on carrots and some oil and stick them in the oven, it makes the carrots and onions go carmalized and makes them taste sweet mmm!

I looooove cloves and cumin and coriander in chili. Just basic chili with tomatoes, beef, onions, garlic, chili powder... but IMO the cumin adds a lot of complexity and makes it really yummy :)

I love cumin too!! And I love spice. Chipoltle with adobo (sp?) adds some wonderful deep smoky spice.

Tonight we had black bean chili with ground buffalo. It was very good. I've only ever had buffalo once before and didn't really like it. It worked really well with the chili though and it was lower calorie then the ground turkey (because the grocery store only had 85% lean).

I love cooking. I guess thats why I'm overweight. Stick out tongue I'm working on that though.

I will try that chili recipe.  Not too sure about the buffalo, though I have seen it.

I love cloves, and cumin I just never knew how to use that one!  Sounds good.  What is adobo?  I have never heard of that one! What is it from?

Have to work on lower cholesterol building recipes as well.  Unfortunately.  The upside is that you do get accustomed to using more healthful approaches...Things like salt which I love, but should not eat. The less you use it, the less you want it.  Restaurants are the greatest health offenders.  But it is sooo hard to stay away from the "bad" stuff.  I mean who wants a salad when you can smell that other stuff.  Oh well.    Gonna go make a salad :)

Don't laugh but I made Sauerkraut Soup. It is a HUGE family Favorite from an Amish receipe. Using a cream soup base, polish sausage , diced potatoes, celery and of course Sauerkraut.  Served with a great artisian bread or a wonderful dark rye or pumpernickle even the youngest of my grandchildren adore it. Anyone wanting the details PM me..

Never been a fan of sauerkraut, but I have to say, that sounds interesting! I would be interested in the recipe.

And FYI, last night we had bbq chicken legs, slaw, steak potatoes and corn on the cob, yes im rushing in summer.

Re: What are you preparing for dinner tonight?

A couple of weeks or so ago someone posted a receipe (I forget who, but THANK YOU!) for something they had in their slow cooker - water w/tomato sauce and assorted spices with skirt steak and thin sliced onions and  bell peppers and a can of diced tomatoes, served with rice.  I fixed that and it was SO good. Then my DS said he thought it would be good with tortillas so that's what we had last night.  I warmed flour tortillas and we put the meat/veggie mixture on them, topped them with salsa, sour cream & green onions and rolled them up. Yum!  Tonight it will be back to Schwans again.

We are having homemade ravioli with shrimp and tomatoes. I have been on a homemade pasta kick lately. I never realized how easy it was.
