    Problem dogs--Help!!

We have three dogs that I love to death. The problem is that sometimes they act like they've never been housetrained. I'm about at my wits end.I don't know what else to try. We have a female Pekeapoo who will be 12, a female Pom who will be three & last years Xmas present, a male Pom who will be 2 in Sept. I spend quite a bit of time taking them outside, but sometimes they will wait to come inside to potty. My oldest dog will clean up after the two younger ones if I don't catch her. (Poop eater-even her own) Yuckkk! We tried crating, but the male will even potty in his crate & potty in the other two if the door is open. They are crated at night & when we leave, but my living room carpet has turned into a potty. All of our dogs have been spayed & neutered. I hate to think about getting rid of any of them but I need Help!! Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks,  Peke&Pom mom

When you clean the carpet be sure to use an enzyme cleaner.  That will get rid of all the smell (even the stuff we dont smell but they do) so that when they reach the carpet it doesn't smell like a potty.  Keep a VERY CLOSE eye on them and when they start acting like they're going to potty say "uh uh, potty outside" (or something to that effect, but whatever you choose, be consistent) and take them out.  When they potty outside praise like crazy.  If you miss and they potty inside, no yelling, just put them in another room and clean it up.  Some people have said to put the mess outside and take the dog to the mess and say something like, "potty here" but I've never tried that, but if it helps, go for it.

Thanks for the suggestion. It seems like there's all kinds if stuff for smells. Any kind you would recommend? I've tried Natures Miracle, plus some others. Maybe the carpet isn't getting wet enough with the cleaner? We just moved here & the carpet is fairly thick & I wouldn't think of throwing it out. We have mostly hardwood floors, but that doesn't stop it.

I've hear Nature's Miracle is supposed to be good.  There's another person on here, Janet808, I think, who also recommends using a water/vinegar mix so that it doesn't smell good there to the dogs.  I've never tried that, but she's had luck with it.  If you don't think the carpet is getting wet enough I think that some of the enzyme cleaners can be added to something like a steam cleaner to get deep down.  I'm not sure about that though, so you'd have to check the labels on the cleaner to see if you can use them for that.
