Favorite dog sites on the Web? Favorite dog books?

What are your favorite online sites about dogs and dog issues?   I really enjoy the articles on the http://www.4pawsu.com/ site and was wondering what sites others have found.

I am reading Stanley Coren's How to Speak Dog, and was wondering what books others have read that they would recommend?  Any topic, informative or just entertaining.

This is my fav dog site.

Patricia McConnell has great books on training and behavior. I love her training style and the way she writes, draws me right in and I can' t stop reading it!

I agree. dog.com is my favorite place.  I've been here for a lot of years, it's "home" and comfortable.

I'm not really into articles, books, DVDs....I like forums like this much better.  I use this forum, the German Shepherd forum, and the GSD Pedigree Database forum (more specifically for work or show, not so much general ideas/chat/training/pet issues).  However, Ed Frawley does have some good "how to" type articles and also some good Michael Ellis videos on how SchH trainers use marker/reward based training.

This forum and a Doberman forum are my favs, plus I'm on a few Yahoo groups for training/dogs.

As for books, I think Canine Body Language by Brenda Aloff is pretty useful.

I come here most every day but primarily I'm a reader, not much of a poster.  Everyone here seems to be so familiar with each other and pretty knowledgable so I feel a little outside the group.  But I have learned a lot of interesting things.  I spend most of my time at www.boxerworld.com since getting Bella 3 years ago.  I was totally new to the breed and found it to be a wealth of information.

Re: Favorite dog sites on the Web? Favorite dog books?

     My favorite dog training/behavior sites:

Sue Ailsby's Training Levels - great resource for training dogs to be everything from good pets to conformation dogs to performance dogs to service dogs. I also enjoy her Training Levels email list.

    www.dragonflyllama.com

Susan Garrett's website and blog. Good info on performance training.

    www.clickerdogs.com

Silvia Trkman's website. REALLY cool website with lots of photos, videos and articles. Focused on agility and tricks but training info is useful for other stuff too. And the trick videos are really fun! Silvia is a top agility competitor who has won national and World Agility Championship and has a great relationship based approach to training.

     http://silvia.trkman.net/

Suzanne Clothier's Flying Dog Press. Lots of good articles, although you now have to regsiter to view them.

    http://flyingdogpress.com/

Clicker Solutions is a good collection of keepers from the email list of the same name. Offers information on everything from getting started to teaching behaviors to problem solving with clicker training plus training plans, horse clicker training, online training journals and FAQs (with some well known authors too).

    http://www.clickersolutions.com/

And last but not least Shirly Chong's site with lots of training how tos including six lessons on training the most important behaviors, Mind Games-her version of NILIF, teaching retreive, ClickTrain Keepers and how to make your own recirculating bathing system at home (if you have never used one, you don't know how much easier your life could be ;) ).

     http://www.shirleychong.com/

     For books I enjoy:

     Control Unleashed by Leslie McDevitt

     Shaping Success by Susan Garrett

Steppin Up to Success Book One by Terri Arnold (competition obedience)

Choose to Heel by Dawn Jecs (competition obedience)

Tricks of the Trade by Pat Hatsings (show dog book mostly but with lots of good practical dog care advise too)

See Spot Live Longer by Steve Brown (about how diet affects the health and longevity of our dogs)

Planet Dog by ?? (just a really fun all things dog book)

    My favorite sites:

    www.clickertraining.com

    Patricia McConnell's blog:
    http://www.theotherendoftheleash.com/
It's fascinating and I've read the entire blog.

    Susan Garret's agility blog:
    http://susangarrettdogagility.com/

Dog Star Daily - blogs and articles
    http://www.dogstardaily.com/blogs

I read a lot of scientific papers online, so I can't really post links as they are through membership-based universities or college institutions.

    As for favorite books:
    - Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson (or anything by her!! I have three of her books)
    - Anything by Patricia McConnell
    - When Pigs Fly by Jane Killion - amazing for training the "difficult" breeds like Terriers and Hounds
    - Don't Shoot the Dog by Karen Pryor
    - Click for Joy by Melissa Alexander
    - Click to Calm
    - Dogs, by Ray and Lorna Coppinger (amazing, amazing, amazing)
    - The Emotional Lives of Animals, by Mark Bekoff
    - Anything by Brenda Aloff - I've read three of her books (Positive Training, Aggression in Dogs, and Get Connected with your Dog) and they are all fabulous.  A lot of reading, but super informational.

    .....just to name a few.

I haven't had to use the internet for dog related issues until my dog became sick with AIHA and since then I'ld have to say that this site is quickly becoming my favorite.  This site is just so helpfull and is packed full of knowledgable people who care tons.  The advise here is priceless.

I have this one and really enjoyed it, too.  When I learned 3 new things within a few mins of flipping thru the pages at a show recently, I decided it was worth the $.  (Doesn't hurt that she's a Dobe person and it's loaded with pics of Dobes, too. lol)

Swifferlips, I sure understand how you feel.  That's the way I feel on some of the other forums.  Believe it or not, some of us have been here forever, but some of our members are much newer and still fit right in.  Stick your two cents in now and then and you'll start feeling more comfy.  Our Mindless chat in NDR (although its Wed blubbering or something today) is a great place to get your feet wet
