  Can YOU spot the pitbull?! Reply Contact Hi, I am writing a research paper for my senior language arts class, and I would really appreciate it if you take a look at the picture below. Only one of the dogs pictured below is an American Pitbull Terrier. Since it is sort of difficult, please give me three guesses of which dog you believe the pitbull is. In case you are wondering, I am arguing in my paper that breed-specific pet-banning is an unfair generalization made and that you cannot determine whether a dog is a pitbull or not by an "eye-test". (Yes, this does really happen in many major U.S. cities, including Denver, CO). I would appreciate it if you do not try to cheat by looking up the answer somewhere or posting the answer just because you've seen it before, because I need the data to be as accurate as possible. When I am done with my paper, I will try to remember to return and post the answer for those wondering, but for now it's a mystery [;

You're not going to get a good result feed from a dog board... you'd be better off surveying your class - or even the teachers. Get your government officials to take the test- or - for a real kicker - have your county ACO's take it.

Reply Contact  So why is it not 3 or 22?  16, 3 and 22 were my guesses.  Those 3 dogs look a lot alike to me but it's hard to tell from a picture what the differences are.  So I'm asking the pro's what they are so I can educate myself further. Reply Contact 3 is an Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog.  The only reason that I know is that we have a pair that train at our club.  They are more substantial than pits are supposed to be.  The one in the picture isn't what I'd call a great example of the breed. I have no clue what 22 is.  It's too big, imo, to be a true pit. IMO, all of the pics are somewhat misleading.  It looks like the person who chose the pics intentionally picked dogs who weren't great examples of their breeds & used pics with poorly positioned dogs, in order to, hopefully, throw people off.  Amanda Tact is for people who aren't witty enough to use sarcasm. I'm a sucker for stirring the pot- which is why I'd march right down to animal control and the government offices to see if these people know what they are banning (which I can tell you right now, they can't)

And the people who would be making those decisions and labeling the dogs aren't necerssarily qualified to do so..... Kind of like going into an airport with say a staffie.. and having someone tell you the dog can't fly because it's a pitt? When it's not a pitt at all? I've even seen a doberman mix that was labeled a pitt... and my brother rescued a full bred boxer  who was taken into custody along with his mom and dad before his tail was docked. He's had people argue him down that it's a pitt because it has a long tail.... Of course I also have seen someone call a black and tan coonhound a doberman with a tail and long ears, that was a bright neighbor... and malinios' german shepherds.... and a black and tan bassett hound a standard dachshund.... and a mutt a carolina dog.... I could just keep going on and on and on.... Just proves the point even better.... in my opinion. Adopt and old dog.. and teach it new tricks! One person's burden can be another person's best friend.

Reply Contact I asked an ACO from Boston to take the test and she refused.  That says something, now doesn't it?  To the OP, this test has been around for a while and I know the answers, so not fair for me to answer your request.  But, I think the suggestion that you ask ACO's is really a good one, and you may want to try asking a few mayors or city councilors, too, since they generally support the ACOs' recommendations.
