    Mindless chat sat

I have so much congestion going on today in my head and chest. I can't tell if its a cold coming on or because of a change in the weather

Its super sunny today and supposed to be around 60. Yay

I have a lot of errands to do and lots of dogs to train. I need neiko to do a 3 min down stay before tomorrow.

I woke up looking 12 years older due to a sty on my right eye. I have a bag so big under it right now that I could put a load of laundry in it. Do not see me going anywhere today.

Suppose to be nice here too today, the dog gets an outside bath tomorrow because it is suppose to almost 80. Someone is currently mowing their lawn! In november!

Sigh, now to decide what to do with my baggy eyed self.

Dawn, Preparation H will help with the bag under your eye.  The sty wil still be there but at least it would pull the swelling down.

I have my Saturday puppy class in a bit.  Then, Lola & I are going to make an appearance at an adoption event.  After that, I am going to do some volunteer work.

It''s going to be a good day.

Do folks there not need to mow the lawn in the fall and winter? We never get a break here. It might slow down to only needing it every 2 weeks, but we can't go much longer than that.

Sorry about the bag under your eye. Maybe it's one of those things that looks worse to us than it does to other people? If not, just try to enjoy the excuse not to run errands.

Errands is what I need to do today. I didn't sleep well at all last night. I'm not sure why but I woke up every 2 hours or so. Seemed like a very long night but not restful. I hate starting the day off with thoughts of a nap.

I really need to get outside and wash my car. It's filthy and the rain that was supposed to arrive yesterday was a no-show. It's still only 60ish though, so I'll wait for it to warm up later.

    Re: Mindless chat sat

Thanks ladies, will try the P. H for the bagginess. And yes I am applying hot water compresses to the eye so that it comes up and I can open it, this is something that I get often.

As for lawns, around here most people stop around the end of October, the grass just does not grow. My DH will not touch the mower willingly unless it is A) March or April or B) I threaten.

I am not going anywhere today. I just feel..fragile. My head is stuffy, and my eye is well an eyesore Stick out tongue. Think I will wash and iron the quilt top and bottom and attempt a pin together. And then drag out an old book to re connect with old friends, nothing like a good story.

I won't let DH know about this or he'll have us packing to move.

I swear that we are never going on vacation again without the dogs. I was cleaning one of the bathrooms and had left the cupboard door under the kitchen sink open. I came out to find Sassy had managed to reach in and pull a bunch of trash out of the trashcan and was blissfully munching away. I'm not even sure what all she ate but she was pretty happy with herself. She knows not enter the kitchen but has done it several times since we got home. I'd told the sitter that she knows not to and if she attempts it to remind her to back up. Maybe I shouldn't blame everything on the sitter but things have been really strange since we got home.

    Re: Mindless chat sat

We mowed the lawn for the last time of the year last weekend.....and we won't likely touch it again till April or so.

I'm home today with a respiratory infection.....bleh. I was hoping not to have to miss any work. Doc did not suspect anything swin-ey, so I'll trust that......there are no other symptoms.....looks like the outcome of the cold I just finished up with. But the meds and the puffer are not that enjoyable right now. However, I can say that a day in my warm bed with the three puppers snuggling up is not a bad experience. Stick out tongue

My only plans are to get rested, which is okay with me since it's cloudy, cold, and the odd snowflake keeps drifting by the window. Not really a nice day to be out and about anyway!

Ok so someone needs to light a fire under me today. I'm still in my pjs and already took a nap. Not the ideal way to spend a warm sunny saturday! Must get motivated.

    Re: Mindless chat sat

I'm sitting here avoiding cleaning.  I've got all my laundry done...almost, and I've scrubbed my kitchen and cleaned off the dining room table which instead of eating off of, it generally a catch all spot.  I still need to scrub the bathroom and dust the house and vacuum.  ugh.  I should just hire a cleaning lady.  I really hate doing it.

FH is at a bird show this weekend and just called me all upset.  His one "friend" showed up and started screaming at him in front of everyone.  Said "friend" and FH trade birds back and forth and money usually doesn't exchange hands.  The last two years though, "friend" has been mad at FH for something we have no idea about, just doesn't talk to him, is weird around him, etc.  "Friend" called and needed a bird the other night though, so FH said he had one, and would bring it.  FH decided to ask him for money for the bird, he had pretty much called their friendship a done deal and I told him everything here on out should be dealt with like any other person, bird for cash.  "Friend' was apparently FURIOUS over FH wanting to charge him for the bird and that's why he came to the bird show screaming.   Instead of talking to him like a normal person and discussing things, he decided screaming would be a better way to deal with things.  I am MAD about this.  This is the absolute last straw for me.  For some reason, FH has always found someway to defend the numerous sketchy things "friend" has done, and I cannot for the life of me understand why.  (another sketchy thing was "friend" getting rottweilers from a friend of a friend in the czech republic or somewhere, bringing them over here and wanting us to provide Timmy for breeding.  NOT A CHANCE in h*** I was going to let that happen.  "Friend" had to get rid of the one male dog he had because it was aggressive and bit a child (who was at his wife's home run daycare).  He better be damn glad I chose not to go to this birds show this weekend.  I would have turned my inner bitch on and told him - he's one of those guys who thinks women should stay home in the kitchen, he wouldn't have taken kindly to my lashing for sure.

Enough with that rant...sorry I just needed to vent somewhere.

    Stacey.

    Re: Mindless chat sat

Stacey - I'd have just as angry as you about the whole thing. This friend doesn't sound like much of a friend at all. It's hard to watch your DH be taken advantage of. Sometimes men can be overly tolerant of that kind of thing.

I need a housekeeper too. I finished cleaning but it took me from about 8 to 11 to do it and now I'm tired and I don't feel like doing anything else. I do love having a clean house and it's hard for me to take off and enjoy myself if it's dirty, but it stinks that it's the start of every weekend for me and then I'm too tired for something fun. Maybe after resting a bit, I'll feel better and go do some shopping.

The vet left a msg yesterday that Sassy's urine looked fine except it was "very dilute". Is that a problem? They're supposed to call me today with the results of the culture. Sassy continues to be fine though, so I'm still completely baffled as to what caused the day of urine leakage. Confused

I go straight for the antibiotic eye ointment when i get a  stye.  I don't fool around anymore with compresses and teabags.  One time I did, and it got so bad, my doctor had to freeze my eye and lance it...it was awful.

Speaking of which.  My doctor that I have been so grateful for.  The one that does everything, is so caring and thorough and perfect...ya, him.  He's giving up his family practice and going full time into anesthesiology....grrr.  So I am now without a doctor for my whole family.  It sucks.  Now all of his patients will just have to try to get in with the walk in doctor until we can get some new doctors to move to this place.  Sigh.

Oh and I made a playdate with a friend that is moving to Germany in a few days, and now I'm sick.  That just figures.

    Re: Mindless chat sat

Cathy, I had my house cleaned professionally last summer and those two women did such an amazing job that I've actually been able to keep it up without much trouble.  I always suspected that if I could ever get every single nook and cranny cleaned at once it would be easier. They were pretty reasonable too.  They did absolutely every single inch of everything and a one story, 3 bed/2 bath was $85.00.  Unlike myself, they don't get distracted by TV, computer, newspapers, etc. Smile While I was driving earlier one of the lenses in my sunglasses popped out and landed in my lap (I hate when that happens) so I popped into Wally to get it fixed at the vision center.  Not only did I get it put back in, but for $20 I bought a pair of those clip-on thingys for my regular glasses.  They're cut the same shape as my glasses and it's way cheaper than another pair of prescription shades would be.

Is she drinking extra water?  Sometimes an infection can be difficult to detect IF the urine is dilute (particularly they may drink more because the urine burns).

On the flip side -- they should be able to 'concentrate' the urine -- meaning the urine should contain the toxins it's supposed to be helping the body get rid of.  So If the dog isn't drinking more that leads to a concern about the kidneys.

Watch how much she drinks.  I've gotten so I use a big clear Anchor Hocking graduated measuring/mixing bowl for a water bowl.  That way we know how much everbuddy is drinking at any given time.  The level should go down about 'so much' every day, if you get me?  Usually I'm the one who fills it so that way we actually keep track of it and if the water level suddenly goes down it's a good bet SOME-buddy has a UTI.

    ++++

I try to read the MC threads but I'm not good at them.  I don't mean to be anti-social but either I'd go on and on and say way too much or want to answer every single post.  But occasionally I find a question I can answer *sigh*

    Re: Mindless chat sat

Thanks Callie. Sassy is fairly impossible to monitor. She has a huge water bucket but she also has a lap licker outside. We've noticed that when she eats these nylabones flexichews, she salivates like crazy and then guzzles a ton of water. She also lives for ice cubes. The vet just called and said that the culture didn't grow a thing, so we agreed to just keep an eye on her and if it starts again, we'll consider more testing. Vet said "maybe she was just so excited that you guys were home that she drank more than usual". I guess, but it still seems very odd to me.

Joyce - $85 sounds like a bargain to have my house cleaned from top to bottom. I do clean it thoroughly every weekend but by the next weekend, the whole house needs to be vacuumed, sheets need to be changed, bathrooms (2) need to be cleaned, etc. I really need someone weekly or at least bi-weekly. The problem is with DH's schedule. It's hard to have someone come on any set day when sometimes that might be the day he's just gotten off his 48 hr shift and needs to sleep. If it weren't for that, I'd have probably hired someone by now.
