Has anyone bought a new dishwasher recently?

And what do you think about it?  I might have to replace mine, which was a higher end Kenmore about 10 years ago...and I love it and never had a lick of trouble with it until now.  I'm not sure whether to pay the high cost of repairs or just get a new one.  I did look at some today in Lowe's, and didn't get this real solid feeling about any of them.

You must be a lot happier with yours than I am with mine. I can't wait to buy a new one. I think mine is a Kenmore too but it's obnoxiously loud. The new ones are supposed to be much quieter. When we were on vacation, the one in the condo wasn't really new but the set up of the baskets was so much better than mine too. Can you tell I want a new one?

About two years ago I bought a new Kenmore, it's a middle of the road/high end I guess - it was around $700.00  I LOVE it.  It works beautifully, I don't find it loud, and it cleans!  It's a tall tub one because my dishes are huge.

I just recently bought a GE all my appliances are GE.  I really don't think it matters much what the brand is anymore, they are all made overseas and probably in the same place. lol  GE was reasonably priced middle of the road and I replaced the old GE I had. It is very very quiet.

please do not spend money on it to have it repaired it is not worth it when it is l0 years old.  They are only built to last about that long anymore.

Mine isn't brand new, but it's less than two years old.  It's a GE and I think it was around $400 on sale.  It does a good job on the dishes and the thing I love most about it is how quiet it is. The old one sounded like a freight train was coming through the kitchen and I couldn't talk on the phone in the kitchen unless I opened to dishwasher door a bit to stop it ... then I usually forgot to close it again.

Auburn, that is what I was thinking concerning repairs also.  If my DH were still alive, he could have taken care of it...and my son could now, but it is still a dishwasher on the down hill slide.  I'll offer it to my son if he wants to fix it, as his is completely out and he has 2 kids.  Maybe he will get a few more years.  It was a really nice one 10 years ago...

So I did some research and some shopping, and I settled for a middle priced Kenmore this time.  Good heavens, there are dishwashers out there for $1500 all the way down to $300!  This one has most of the features I liked on the old one...minus a few, because I don't do the same amount of dishes anymore.  I've had pretty good luck with Kenmore, and Consumer Reports rates this one as a good buy...fingers crossed!

I'm thinking about replacing mine, too.  I like it, and it cleans well (Whirlpool) but the control buttons have tears in them and the normal cycle one doesn't work, so I end up wasting a lot of water doing all the loads on the prolonged cycle.

Does anyone know of a brand that still has real buttons and not the touch pad kind?

We have a new LG dishwasher.  It's great.  It's quiet, & does a great job of getting the dishes clean.
