Maybe Vick is Why the Yankees Won...

Who knows, the dog gods may still be mad at Philadelphia.  Anyway, here's an interesting article on why some of us are not willing to forgive Vick - ever.  The image of the swimming pool is pretty hard to get out of your head once you read it.

"before you, too, become one of the people saying Vick's done his time and deserves to get on with his life....Think about the ones who were buried in the dirt of Bad Newz Kennels, who aren't getting much attention outside the dog world."

"Because the nation's most notorious dogfighter pled "not guilty" to animal cruelty charges -- charges that were eventually dropped in a plea bargain -- and he was convicted only of bankrolling a dogfighting conspiracy, for which he served 18 months in prison before being welcomed back to the public spotlight. "

I would like to clip jumper cables on a different part of his body and throw him into a pool. So no, he has not paid his debt to society after 18 months in jail. Not even close

I wish the same thing on Vick that he did to those dogs in the pool.  Like Reynolds said at the end of the article, it's too bad we, who care about these dogs and all dogs, will never get these horrible images out of our heads but Vick isn't bothered by them.  I just don't get that football fans care so much about a "sport" that they are willing to take him in with open arms.  Sad commentary on the priorities of many people.

It makes me physically ill to think of what those poor creatures went through.  I will never understand how anyone can think he's paid his debt.  But until this country puts some real teeth into animal cruelty laws, this type of thing will always be "forgivable" to most of the general public.  It just validates my feelings that I like most animals more than most humans.

I was thinking the same thing.

No, he has not "paid his debt to society", and IMO no amount of time in jail will ever change that. The thing is that he doesnt even care what he did to the dogs, he only apologized to his fans, he never once said anything regarding the things he did to those dogs.

The one good thing that came out of this story i think is that, since it was such a big story they actually tried (and succeded ) in saving some of the dogs, instead of automatically euthanizing them just because they were ex fighters. I think it might open peoples eyes that not ALL pit bulls rescued from fighters need to be PTS.

Guess who's the newest HSUS celebrity spokesman? And who HSUS CEO Wayne Pacelle says we should "embrace" because "we are all sinners when it comes to animals?

None other than Michael Vick. You can check out Pacelle's story on the subject, also on the SF Chronicle's page: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/10/15/EDVP1A5OTN.DTL

And people still support this organization... it's kinda hard to believe.

I had to stop reading once I started about the dogs in the pool. I just couldn't do that. Sorry Philly sports fans, you've always been low class, and you always will be low class.
