    Agnes's heartworm update

Took the little brown dog to the vet Saturday for a blood draw.  Doc found only 3 or 4 larvae in her blood!  Two months ago she had over 300!!  I know it is in part due to the ivermectin and also the doxicycline sterilizing the adults.  Even though she is down a pound, weighs 25.5lbs, her fur is softer, her eyes are brighter, she eats, has normal poop, goes for walks, so I think her life is good.

As we were leaving, a woman coming in with her overweight Lab mix said to me that my dog was too skinny.  I said that she was very old, had been very sick, and "if you'd seen her two months ago you'd think she looks great".  She repeated again that Ags was too thin.  I bit my tongue to stop myself from saying "what, in comparison to your dog a lot of dogs must look too thin!"  Oy

I'm glad Agnes is doing well!!

Just ignore the nay-sayers, though. People tell me that Tiki must be lazy or spoiled, since she gets to ride in the stroller while Pirate happily walks beside. I don't think some people understand what it's like to have a 'special' dog. Aren't they missing out? ;)

I always give Agnes rubs and scritches from her forum Aunties!

I figure if the vet didn't seem too worried, then it's not a huge deal.  She does eat 3 meals a day - and eats everything I give her.

    Yay, Agnes!  Party!!!

Great work, Tina.  You and Agnes were definitely meant to be together.

Poo on the stupid people.  You know how well Agnes is coming along, so don't even worry about her.

Yay Agnes!!!!!!!!!!  Yay Tina!!!!!!!!!!!  You're becoming a lean, mean lovin' machine. :)  I'm so thrilled for both of you.  I just want to squeee & give Agnes ear rubbies.  I can do the squeeing here but would you give Agnes some ear rubbies from me, please?

Annie, I'd be honored to give Agnes the ear rubs from you!

Thanks for the good wishes everyone.  It is really amazing how far Agnes has come.  She perks up her ears and wags her tail when I come home from work, which she did not do for the first month.  At first it seemed like she didn't care if she died, but as she started feeling better, I could see that twinkle in her eye and I knew she wanted to stick around.
