    Spend $50 for me Groomers..plz

Ok, so $50 is a roundabout number, but basically I want to know, if you were in my situation, what would you buy for grooming supplies.

    Quick rundown:

    • Crusher and Onyx are huskies, but Onyx is crossed with something else, I'd guess BC but who knows.  Her topcoat is silky and long, but her undercoat is as dense as Crushers.  Her undercoat does not come out on its own like his though.  It gets stuck and will matt if I don't take it out.  Crusher has a pretty correct husky coat.  Its course with a dense undercoat.
    • Onyx is mostly black.  Crusher is black and white, or grey and white in the winter.
    • Crusher is 80ish pounds, and Onyx is about 40.
    • I dremel Onyx' nails.  I still clip Crusher's.  His are thick and hard, and he is only just to the point where he will let me touch the dremel to his nail without screaming.  The dremel must be off however.  Someday.
    •  I am terrified of quicking a dog.  never done it, never want to, but as a result Crusher's nails are longer than I would like.  Onyx' are nice and short and nubby now...I like the dremel.
So, what would you buy if you had my dogs, and wanted to keep it at about $50?  And if you had more...what would you add?  Groomers here are rediculously expensive.  I can't afford it.

Re: Spend $50 for me Groomers..plz

If I had $50 and huskies for pups- (oh the hair on those furries!) I'd probably try to invest in a force dryer. Most of them are $100+ but I got mine used on craigslist for around $60- and I didnt' have to pay shipping either. It's a mini metro air force. The thing I've found (as I'm sure you know) if you can't get to the skin of these dogs to dry them, they can stay damp for days.

But, if you're looking for small accessories, my favorite thing for dogs with mega undercoat is the pet edge brand "master grooming tools" stripper (haha- I know) 8 blade. It's a hook and it gets the undercoat out without doing damage to the topcoat. URL: (link to petedge site)

"The Stuff"- an after bath leave in spray that works great for taking out undercoat. I have found it at my local tractor supply, but you can google it- and it's found at most major grooming sites.

    hope that helps a bit.
