My pinscher cross and I say hello!

I'm Rachael, and my dog Jacob are excited to get some advice and opinions from other dog owners. He is almost 3 years old, and is a doberman pinshcer/ rat terrier cross. I am a college student, but Jacob lives the life of a farm dog. We live on the farm where I board my horse, and he gets to live a life most dogs dream of. Accompanying me on trail rides, rolling in dirt, chasing cats, swimming in creeks.... he is a happy guy I like to think! But he is very headstrong and high energy, and I have lots of questions for people who are used to dealing with wiley terriers like this! Here are some pictures of my boy:

Welcome! I used to own a min pin x who looks exactly like Jacob! Sammy, weighed about 20 lbs., how big is your boy?

Welcome! I bet he enjoys farm life. I know my Gobie would.

I have a 13 yr old oversize minpin, weighs about 14 lbs.  He's red.  And very terrier-ish. He's got a couple of very bad habits (markng/peeing in the house and barking way too much) but otherwise he's very intelligent.

The key to these guys is to keep them busy and challenged.  Gobie was great at agility before he got disc disease in his neck and had to stop.

thank you Jackie!! And he is about 24 pounds, decent sized terrier. Shamrock, I've been curious about dog agility since the day I got Jacob, I think he would be great at it. I just never knew where to start as far as training goes, I don't have any obstacles (or experience for that matter)! How did you get started in agility?

Look around for a beginner's agility class.  Google agility classes in your area.

I took classes with him and then I also googled how to make your own agility equipment. You can whip up some jumps out of pvc pretty easily, or even just rig up boards on blocks or something to make some practice jumps.   Gobie Loves it, well he loved it, but can't do it anymore becaus eof his neck.

You might do an obedience class too. They are very smart and enjoy working.
