If anyone can win her trust, you can.  Sounds like you made huge leaps already.  I just hope that she learns to trust someone again, so she can have a good, safe life.  I will keep checking for updates..... I got everything crossed for her.

Another quick update this evening....went back to the shop, basically just to feed her.  But, also went through the process of trying to gain some more trust by feeding her in her presence while I hang and to feed her by hand.  I was even able to coax her (with food) into the shop...although she was very reluctant.  But, she's hungry too...so....Slight progress.

I don't really think the mechanic went back up there...which makes me sad and angry all at the same time.  Apparently, I care more than he does.  Maybe I'm wrong....maybe he was up there when I wasn't.

I'll have DH take some more food to work in the morning....and I'll go again tomorrow evening.

Barbara, I just read about this girl.  Wow, you are doing so well!  Keep it up, and I hope to see a "success!" post about her soon.  She is beautiful too!

I'm not suggesting that you push things too quickly, but since you managed to coax her into your husband's shop today, you are not far from being able to put a leash on her.  Once you do that....I sure hope the mechanic understands what it takes to keep her safe, but I am thinking that he may not.  So I have one more suggestion:  do not be the person to hand the leash over to the mechanic, IF it is decided that she goes back to the mechanic. Further, do not make the connection in your space. Your space needs to remain a safe/neutral place.

"If" is the big question in my mind right now.  If he in fact didn't even go to the shop yesterday; he doesn't deserve her.  Is it up to me to say who deserves a dog?  Probably not.  If I'm able to catch her when no one is around....might I remove her, and find a good home for her.  Maybe.

Good suggestion about keeping myself and my space safe and neutral.

Thanks everyone for helping me through this, offering support and confidence.  I need you.

And, Jackie...I may need to talk to you about the rescue organization you spoke to when you saved...ahem..."Tempest."  Smile

Update: DH just called to say that one of the other mechanics across the way said she was caught last night and is now in their office.  If it was the owner/mechanic, why didn't he take her home?  So many questions....

DH is going to question him when he sees him this morning....he's not in yet.

I'm wondering if he got her thinking she would make a good guard dog for the shop?  :(  I hope your DH can get the story out of the mechanic today.

Apparently, someone sleeps in that office so she wasn't alone there...so thats good (I hope).  DH still hasn't spoken to the mechanic yet....but someone took her out ON A LEASH this morning; and he said she looked ok...which makes me feel slightly better.  He told that person that I was very concerned about her well being...and that I know a lot of people that could help her if they want my help.

Just catching the story about "Tempest".  She is really pretty.  Hot Shot was very timid and scared when we got him.  I think you have done all the right things to win her trust.  I am hoping  this man has his heart in the right place and he can win her trust or give her up to someone that can.

Great to hear she's not awol anymore and glad to hear they are using a leash.  Maybe they'll let you give them so tips on how to keep her safe.  Good on you, CoBuHe...she had positive experiences with you that she will remember.  Yes
