    MJ's new movie

Anyone seen it yet? I saw it last night and although I'm not a hard core fan of his, I do enjoy his music. And I must say, I really enjoyed this movie! I won't say anything yet since what ever I do say, could give stuff away.

I saw it last night too. I thought it was pretty good. The stuff they were going to have in the concert... just amazing.

Its sickening how people are milking his death for all its worth.

I agree his "fans" came out of the woodwork when he died.  Where were they for the past ten years or so when he wasn't producing any hits and was going through a really difficult time personally?  Hypocrites.  (And I mean this in general population terms, not aiming it at anyone here on idog.)  Yes, he had true fans forever and always, but the fair-weather fans make me ill.

HOWEVER, I think this particular movie is just a way to honor his memory as the icon he was.  He was getting ready to embark on a really huge journey and it got cut short.  What's the harm in showing what he worked so hard for?  I dont see it as milking.

    Re: MJ's new movie

I have been a MJ fan my entire life and absolutely love his music, always will.

I have to say that when all that stuff came out about him I had some serious questions about him. In the end I feel sorry for him. He never had a childhood, grew up in an abusive environment (his mom is to blame as well for letting his dad get away with it) and he was really very lonely as a result of it. I do think that all those years took a mental and emotional toll on him. I do feel that some of his family members took advantage of him and continue to, however, I think the public wants to see this movie for many reasons. I don't think the fascination about MJ will ever go away.

I just hope his kids are provided for and not exploited. They should be able to pursue the lives they want.

    RIP MJ

P.S. I'm glad his back up dancers are getting their 5 minutes after all that hard work and the disappointment they most surely feel in not going on tour.

    Re: MJ's new movie

I will see it when it comes out on DVD but I cannot bear to see it in a theater. I mean I'd be sobbing the whole time. Just the clips they show on TV make me well up and his voice and his persona just seem so full of life, and health, and potential. He looked better than he had, in years.

He was indeed on the cusp of something and to have it end like it did really does me in.

I've felt guilt about not supporting his last albums that did poorly. It may be silly but I felt some disloyalty about that and still do. He got me thru some tough times in my life and I let him down. Some can laugh about that if they want but I really don't care.

As to milking I don't feel like anyone is milking anything when they show an Elivs flick on TV, or all those people flocked to see the Dark Knight even more because Leger died, etc. It's just that people want to see him...hear him and pretend even just for a while that he is NOT, gone forever. He would want that to be...I really think that.

Money is a fact of life. People make money off things...I don't dwell on that because I am no different...and really, neither is anyone here. If you had talent that people paid for and you died and your talent could continue to provide for your children and even great grandchildren....well....

Gina, I totally agree. I hope that the movie makes tons and tons and tons of money, and that his kids are well taken care of for the rest of their lives.
