I love IGs - they are such neat little dogs. 8 isn't generally a "senior" for an IG, more like middle aged. So wishing you many happy years with Jewel :)

I know how you feel gurl! Multiple times have I been asked "isn't it hard to foster? dont you want to keep them all? don't you get attatched to your temporary dogs?" I always answer with "not really, cuz I know they'll go to good homes."

Puppies are cute but I never had a problem with letting them go. I actually went out of my way to find them homes. I talk to strangers and CONVINCE them that its time for a new family member. (haha!)

BUT, I fostered this older dog and she did take longer than usual to get adopted but when the day came I was heartbroken. I knew if I kept her I wouldn't be able to foster other dogs so i had to give her up -plus the family was PERFECT- so that was her. I remember seeing her pass by the adoptions and to see how happy she is made my day more than any puppy would of.

     GO OLDER DOGS!

    <<new boyfriend>>

DUMP THE S.O.B.!!!!!! err...ummm...back to normal now. Any person who wants me to choose them or the pet? You're outta here!

As a person who just adopted a senior Chi, I can tell you this: I have volunteered for years at the shelter and the puppies or even teenagers drive me nuts.  The oldsters tear my heart out.

Congrats on the new IG--you KNEW it would happen, didn't you? LOL

    That's awesome!  Yayyy!

It worries me a little though b/c I'm considering becoming a foster home...  We shall see how that works out, :-D.

I'm only on my first foster, and thankfully I can say it won't be a fail!! Big Smile Although Aspen wouldn't make 4 easier than 3, it would make it seem like 12 dogs. Surprise His needs are so different than the Mini's, in terms of exercise, stimulation, SPACE!!!!!....haha. I love the big guy, but he's admittedly not a great fit for the current pack. I'd love to have a dog like him someday, in different circumstances though.

    Congrats on the keeper though!!

Re: I suck at fostering (jennie_c_d)

Puppies are easy peasy. They pee and poop and scream at night, and when they're gone, it's a sigh of relief. Then, I get pictures of them HAPPY HAPPY in their new homes. Old dogs take longer to settle. They're unsure, and take a while to trust again. And dang it, once they're settled, what are you supposed to do????

She goes in on Monday to be spayed and have her two brand spankin new mammory lumps removed. Hopefully,  it's nothing terrible.
