I think the same thing... sometimes i have to resist going up to the people buying all sorts of crap dog/cat food and asking them if they know whats in the food they are buying.
One time i was buying Baileys food, and some lady (carrying a bag of Iams) walked by me and saw what i was getting (beef marrow bones) and asked how i cook them. When i told her all the meat in the basket was actually dog food, she looked at me like i had just grown 3 heads. She asked me why i fed my dog raw meat and if it was really healthy for them to eat that(she was being kind of snobby/rude about it) , i replied "Yes, its very healthy, why do you feed your dog that (pointing at bag of Iams)... Do you even know whats in it?" . She said no but she saw it on TV and it says its made with "real meat and veggies" on the bag, so it must be healthy...
